What's that? Can't hear you over the sound of the twelve albums I've sold. All them pennies going clink clink everywhere.

For the crashing thing. I think it started with 1304 or around. It's not related to the song itself im pretty sure as it can even happen on an empty project. To me it feels like the software can't keep up with rapid input. I work incredibly fast and key shortcuts are second nature by now so sometimes I can go play-stop-play-edit-play-stop-save-enter-enter-left-enter in two seconds. Seems like the software just tries to initiate a new routine that's dependent on another, before that other finishes. Does that make any sense?

For the backup. I think Cubase does it perfectly. There's no distinction between save and overwrite. When you save your file, it creates two files. The .CPR project file, and a BAK backup with it. The reason is that if somehow, for whatever reason, your .CPR file gets corrupted, there's a copy of it available. If there's already a .BAK file in the folder, it creates another one with "-02" appended to the file name. Then 03, 04 and so forth. Yes it clutters your folder but your data is safe. When your project is finished, you can simply remove the backup files.

I was going through the bug reports on GitHub and saw a request for a klystrack forum and thought it was a great idea. It always feels weird posting here in this 36 pages long thread when 99% of the people on CMO don't use klystrack anyways.

So there we go... not the prettiest forum ever, but it kinda works as it should.

They don't sound like tape delays to me, but that doesn't mean the effect isn't cool as balls though. I guess you could contact this guy for his schematics:

"Ah, well that's because this bug is due to a bug. You need to not do that bug if you don't want that bug." -Kometbomb, circa 2015.

Crash on startup bug:
If "disable_backups = no" is in the config file, the app crashes at launch.

Other new bug:
Cannot shut down the application on the latest version, it goes unresponsive and the process needs to be killed.

Backup Feature:
Should be applied to all saves, not only overwrites.

Nominated for understatement of the century:
"Really nice tracker, has some bugs though.. "

Strange new problem...

After running the latest version and closing it, the .klystrack config file makes the whole thing crash at start up. Even older versions crash. I had to delete the config file to be able to run it again.

DO THEY EVEN USE THEIR OWN OPERATING SYSTEMS.

hahahaha. that got me LOLing out loud in IRL life.

I use 1920x1200, maximized, with x2 pixel resolution yeah. Disabling textures doesn't seem to affect it.  I did find a 100% repro on the bug though, so that's good: Maximize the window (not full screen mode, just double clicking on the top bar) and then minimize it by clicking the Klystrack icon on the taskbar.Click again to bring it back up and it will be black.

I like the music. Catchy little tunes.

I find the sound a bit raw however. I think these songs could benefit from detail work. First things that come to mind are:

1) Volume envelopes that sustain at a softer volume. A lot of the sounds hit at full volume and sustain there. After a while it gets a bit overwhelming.
2) A bit of vibrato here and there on your leads
3) Some classic single-tap "tracker echo" effects would be nice too

Well take a look at my tutorials here: http://n00bstar.blogspot.ca/

If you have any questions you can email me directly, my address is somewhere on that blog smile

You are not wrong, I'm a rude asshole and anybody who ever spoke to me for more than ten minutes knows that. Kometbomb knows that deep down I love him and every little byte of his crashy code. I am not a nice person under the best circumstances, and yesterday I lost about a month of work in a single crash so...yknow smile

Kometbomb and me have a love/hate relationship that has worked pretty well for the last three years. I complain, he ignores. I suggest, he ignores. He implements, I complain. He fixes, I ignore. YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND TRUE LOVE MAN. tongue

I know I have no claim over Klystrack, but I sometimes feels like it's my baby too...and I want it to grow into a fine young lady.

Hmm yeah there's definitely a problem in the disk access routine. I'd say about half the crashes I get are right before/after or during a save. The addition of a disk access call when you check the song statistics is perhaps not the way to go either. For example, if you click on song statistics and select 'no' to the overwrite box, it crashes just about 100% of the time.

The other half of the crashes I get are related to multitasking and mini/maximizing the window. A lot of times the screen goes entirely black if you alt-tab  in and out of the application. The only way to get the graphics back is to minimize and maximize the window a few times....which often makes it crash rather than fix the problem.

Hahaha. Here's a few suggestions:

"Klystrack: A chipt-------"
"Klystrack: the best tracker you'll ever hate"
"Klystrack's Law: Save often because it crashes a lot. Which increases your chances of it crashing while it saves and corrupt your file. No way out."
"Klystrack: Hear n00bstar whine like a bitch again"
"Klystrack: No we don't play old song files"
"Klystrack Minimum Requirement: Cray XK7"

How about fixing the fucking crashes instead of adding pointless features like knowing the size of the header? Do you even use your own software? Do you know how often this shit crashes? It's so fucking frustrating to lose entire songs because you don't care about fixing bugs, just adding more and more crappy options that make the whole thing even more unstable.

Hahaha that's exactly what I had in my when I was writing that. It's missing the end though, the most important part: IT'LL HAPPEN TO YOU TOO!
