knife city (Brooklyn, NY)
http://www.last.fm/music/Knife+City
Luke silas has had the same game boy since he was five years old. he now uses it to make dance music from time to time. He is currently finishing his debut ep for 8bitpeoples records. knife city is a little thing he likes to do for fun in between shows drumming for Anamanaguchi.

Peter Swimm (New York, NY)
http://www.burialape.com/
Descended from the Serpent Kings of prehistory, Peter Swimm is the faceless power behind T.C.T.D. (True Chip Till Death), the brains behind the creation of New York City’s monthly Pulsewave concert series, and the brawn behind a unique take on the classic chip music sound that combines surf, new wave, metal, and punk.

Zen Albatross (Brooklyn, NY)
http://zenalbatross.net/
Brooklyn's Zen Albatross crafts colossal obelisks of terror-inducing, hip-shaking sound using the antiquated circuitry of the Nintendo Game Boy. He is highly allergic to lite beer and anyone who has ever legitimately enjoyed an Ayn Rand novel.

Da Pantz (Bronx, NY)
http://dapantz.com/
Uptown New York’s sarcastically named DaPantz is an electronic musician based in the Bronx. Adopting a critical view of mental disorder, DaPantz creates challenging, but ultimately thrilling pieces of autobiography that push outdated hardware to its contemporary limit.

I/O returns to Fontana's for a Labor Day chip music fall kickoff event!

minusbaby
http://minusbaby.com/

Richard Alexander Caraballo began his minusbaby project in 1999
to explore the diversity of a lo-fi, compositional aesthetic and has
since progressed experimentally in its scope to include elements
guided by those roots and a sonic language representative of his
influences, namely: the art of bass and how it moves asses.

crashfaster
http://www.crashfaster.com/

Crashfaster is an electronic musician hailing from San Francisco,
California. His style skirts several genres including chiptune, electro,
dance and synth-pop. He combines the chipsets of a Gameboy,
NES and C64 with the analog beats of an 808/909 and a Vocoder
to craft his sound.

Burnkit2600
http://www.burnkit2600.com/

Burnkit2600 try to combine every new technical and cutting edge
method at their fingertips to create heavy, funky psychedelic grooves
with a live rock trio essence. The group does this with vintage
analog gear, old video game hardware, bass guitar, flute and
instruments of their own design.

an0va

Philadelphia musician Daniel Davis' alter-ego an0va is a project
designed to create lo-fi electronic chaos.

Balún
http://www.balunonline.com/

Brought together by their love of simple melodies, 16mm films, cartoon doodles, classical and folk instruments, and experimental pop music, Balún was formed in San Juan, Puerto Rico by José Olivares and Angélica Negrón, and now includes Andrés Fontanez, Noraliz Ruíz, Leonardo Velázquez and Justin Wolf.

The band has performed at Decibel Fest, Pop Montreal, Nacotheque and Pulsewave with artists like Vampire Weekend, Headlights, Tujiko Noriko, minusbaby, and Barbara Morgenstern. They have also collaborated with illustrator Tatiana Arocha on a short film for the DVD series PSST! and with Puerto Rican experimental theater company Y No Había Luz.

Mark DeNardo
http://www.markdenardo.com/

Is anti-chip-punk-folk a genre? Perhaps not, but Mark DeNardo is the first name that comes to my mind. Classifying his music output as chip or punk or folk would do a disservice to all parties. The Graffiti Monsters front man, Fables folk shredder, and solo chip songster demonstrates well what happens when one "writes chip music for ten years" : twice the pride, double the achievement.

HeavyW8bit ChampionChip
http://www.heavyw8bit.com/

An 8-bit maniac and developer of the NSK-1 synthesizer for the Nintendo NES, this retired wrestler turned chip musician clotheslines his way to New York City for his Chinatown circuit debut.

Goferboy
http://www.8bitcollective.com/members/goferboy/

Many times a boy has taken to a stage, and many times a boy has danced. But only once has a boy deliver the furry and explosiveness to a stage that goferboy has. Also known as Henry Andrew Baum, goferboy began his existence as a twinkle in his father's eye that turned into a flame that could be extinguished. His sound, using gameboys as his weapons, vary from melodic frolics, to gloomy bass, and disco pulsations. The results impregnates the audiences ears, as his provocative, neon hip fluxuations, fertilizes their hearts.

On Uptown, Baby!, chip music's fledgling John Cage arranges his prepared Game Boy instruments into a quavering lattice, like what the molecules in a crystal radio receiver might sound like if they sang in shrill, oscillating voices. Sandwiched between the frenetic "Flip" and "Here Come the Pretzels!" is the more paced and head-bobbingly mature structure of the title track, while "Triborough Bridge" surprises with—what?!—an ominous and brooding melody among percussive arps and static. Starting his musical career at 'dystopian art noise', with each release Da Pantz runs closer towards 'romantic power pop', pausing only to high-five Nullsleep headed past in the opposite direction.
