Thanks for all your help guys, I think I am going to go with the density one from ASM simply because there is other stuff on the site that I would like to order at the same time smile

Backlights are mostly all similar nowadays. You'll just probably want to stay away from the horizontally mounted ones.

Here's some others, including some shameless self promotion for you to compare specifications. I wouldn't personally say any is better than the other, it's personal preference since they're all different to install and have varying results. Presumably the "best" backlight may be with Kitsch-bent's remade LCDs, because there will be sufficient room to diffuse the LEDs completely.

LED backlight from us (No cutting required of the LCD housing, and no external resistor, 4 LEDs)

EL backlight from Kitsch (No LED hotspots, and very uniform lighting. Noisier and higher power consumption.)

LED backlight from Kitsch (No external resistor, built in polarized film, 3 LEDs)

Hmmm, a bit more to think about. Which would you say has the easiest install, the one from yourself?

you want a regular backlight kit from nonfinite. http://www.nonelectronics.com/catalog/i … 61fc775020

he is a nice guy and everyone here loves him and his backlight kits

Ok cool, the comparison video looks pretty impressive as well, thanks for your help smile

Hi All,

This is my first post on the forum after looking through the Customized Gear Thread, awesome stuff. I'm now looking at modding my own DMG and I was just wondering what was generally considered the best backlight to fit; there seems to be many different variants from many different sites for around the same price and its hard to differentiate them by looking at pictures online.

Any help appreciated smile
