Placed an order, didn't get any information for a couple of weeks, tried contacting them, didn't get a reply so I opened a PayPal dispute, won and got my money back. That sure was a fun trip.

You can use both outputs with an internal prosound mod too. The thing with the mod is that is simply bypasses the amp. The amp is there for a reason, to increase the volume. This means that without it, the volume will be very low and is therefore less suitable for headphone usage.

That would only apply to adding a secondary output right? If it replaces the original one it still uses the amp from what I understand, is that correct?

Thanks, I guess that solves the mystery! (Just noticed I posted on the wrong board, oh well)

I'm going to order a custom GBC from 8bitaesthetics and I have the option to add prosound for free and I'm considering doing the internal prosound since that's the place where it least interferes with holding the console. Question is, should I? Is the sound that better from the original input? I don't make music but I do play a lot with headphones on so... let me know what you guys think.

Does anyone know if any website that mods GBC's with an horizontal front light? (Something like the mod in the bottom: http://www.mylkstuff.com/page40.htm)
Also, to anyone with a vertical GBC front light mod, how's the visibility? Is it really as bad as mentioned on that website?

The greenish tint actually comes from the DMG's LCD, not the backlight. Any white backlights in a gameboy pocket should look white, as the LCD is a different tint. Biverting may give the screen a subtle blue tone.

You may want to try our Density backlight for the gameboy pocket. We've positioned the wire pads off to the side to allow for a comfortable installation in MGBs.

I'll make sure to check them out. Is there any difference between yours and nonfinite's backlights? Apart from the price.

The gameboy in that picture is not biverted, or it would have a blue-ish ring around the image on the screen.

Pockets had black LCDs, so they look great just straight up backlit with a white panel.

Oh, I just assumed it was considering this guy claimed he had a bivert chip placed: http://forums.modretro.com/viewtopic.ph … mp;t=12754

I'm considering modding a Gameboy Pocket with a white backlight and biversion but before I start I'd like to know a couple of things, maybe you guys can help me out.
Which backlight should I purchase so it looks exactly like the one in the picture.
I modded my DMG before (didn't bivert it yet) with a white backlight from nonfinite but it has a somewhat greenish background, will biverting it take care of that and make it totally white?
Second question would be regarding space, does the GBP really have enough space inside to place the biversion chip?
Lastly, if I decide to spray paint it, what brand would you guys recommend?

On a side note and if anyone knows anything about this, I modded a GBA with a backlit LCD, but not only did the screen come with a stuck green pixel it also has a lot of ghosting, is there any way to fix these two issues? I already tried fixing the green pixel by tapping it but that doesn't seem to do anything, I still haven't tried the dead pixel fixer since I don't have a flashcart with me currently.

Just received a reply from nonfinite, I had no clue inverted backlights already had film glued to them so I had to remove that first. Thanks again. smile

After installing the backlight I noticed that apparently it's inverted and not regular as I though. I tried placing the film between the screen and the backlight but I think I got the wrong film considering I either get the same color as having nothing at all or I get an all black screen (on any level of contrast I set the wheel to). Am I doing something wrong?

One last question. The backlight came with polarized film. Considering I ordered standard and I have no intentions of inverting does the film need to be placed anyway? Or are those just for people that want to invert?

This is a video for the older version of the backlight,  but the points on the pcb are the same... Go to the 4.00 minute mark to see where to solder the power wire and the ground wire:  http://youtu.be/pmE3ztwCvcg

The only difference is that your power wire from the backlight goes to the open lead on the trimmer pot,  and the wire from the trimmer pot goes to the point on the pcb.

Hope this helps.

It does! Thank you so much.
To everyone that was having the overheating issue. Does this varia5uit fix that problem?

I just bought a V5BACKLIGHT and it came with the Varia5uit. This is going to be my first time soldering and I have very little knowledge when it comes to hardware so I was wondering if anyone could tell me exactly which points I should solder both the backlight and the varia5uit, I'd be really grateful since there's not a single YouTube tutorial on how to install the varia5suit and when it comes to the backlight it seems people tend to use different points on every single video.
