I've been thinking about adding some kind of drum machine alongside LSDJ. Does anybody do this with an electribe or something similar? I'd like to here what you guys use.

Fighter x used an emx-1, vid here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWZmeXjPW34 and another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0fjV9umqYM

Syncing LSDJ to a DAW and programming some drums might be something to try before investing in a drum machine.

Kinda off topic from electribe specifically, but the Korg Volca series is comming out in July, I believe. Tiny analog machines, costing $150, if you're just looking for a simple little drum machine.

I know I could use a DAW but my goal is to have all hardware and not rely on a computer. I know about the Korg Volcas. I'm just concerned that I'll be limited with what I can do with that. Do you think that you'll get one AC? Do you guys know of any other alternatives?

I've used an MC-303, it's the original device that inspired the electribe type devices. It can be a bit tough to squeeze any really good sounds out of it but the drums are great and it's got lots of potential for controlling midi modules.

You can also get it for a lot less than an electribe. tongue

You might want to look into the Volca series from Korg. Their Volca Beats sounds pretty damn decent and they're cheap.

edit: aaaaand I just realized it was said before. haha oh well.

An electribe?

And can you point me to an example track of you using the mc-303, jefftheworld?

ER-1 is awesome. Used one for few years, then sold and had to buy it back.

Also, volca series.

The ESX-1 attracts me with its ability to use samples. I don't want anything that is too simple and something that is easy to work with live. Also, if I'm using this to make a lot of beats I would like to be able to save them in some way and I'm pretty sure I can't do that on the Volca Beats.

I have an sp404sx that I absolutely adore. I also have a yamaha qy70 which is surprisingly bad ass.

Both are fairly inexpensive, I don't have an arduino set up yet but I'm guessing it be would fairly simple to integrate either with a dmg-01

We use the es-1. Great ui, effects and super fun to use, but sample management via smart media card totally sucks.

I have an ER-1. Is it against the rules to post it for sale/trade in this thread?
