Hmm, definitions of mellow certainly do vary. I wouldn't really call Depreciation Guild very mellow at all. Air - that's mellow.

I second the little-scale suggestions. Although the intensity of his tracks vary greatly, Dynasty and Third Laser have some fantastically mellow parts/tracks.

Some temp sound solutions stuff is beautifully mellow too, particularly the tracks that were released on Ubiktune across the <insertseasonhere>tunes releases.

Aw, I second this. Asif from Greenleaf also keeps a blog that's pretty chill: http://ilovechipmusic.tumblr.com/

am I the only one who finds this thread a bit misleading?

maybe it's just me, but for example I can never ever ever imagine myself 'chilling' to Greenleaf or OvenRake or anyone who's music is so full of emotions, that you can't help but be moved by it.
chill music should be about lying back in a couch or on a bed and geting your mind off everything, while relaxing and refilling you.
lack of speed, hard kicking beats and catchy bassline doesn't mean lack of energy.

or let me put it this way:
chill music != slow music
and again, we can argue on what slow is.

or let me put it in another way:

OK, there's been lots of allusions to this in this thread, but I'll just come right out and say it:

"Diane" by ovenrake is one of the greatest of all time!!!!
