I rarely see clean headphone jacks in used gameboys. Does anybody now a way to clean them? I tried soaking into 70% / 30% vinegar / water which works great for corroded battery contacts, but not so good for the jack. Maybe higher concentration of vinegar could help, but I'm afraid to dissolve the plastic parts.

I'm asking because for the sake of space I'd like to utilize native jack for 3.5mm pro-sound.

Thanks!

I have never tried cleaning inside of one, but you could just replace it with a new jack.

Sure that's always an option, but I like the screw holes fixing the guy in place.

A good pipe cleaner(I actually use a clarinet cleaning brush) and rubbing alcohol always does the trick for me.

A q-tip can actually come apart and leave cotton in the jack. So a pipe cleaner is just a lot safer.
