Hi Everyone. Just released Android version of GeekTunes this week.

Check it out here:

Official site: https://sites.google.com/site/geektunes2/
Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … .geektunes

The iOS version is receiving an update this week too. Unfortunately iOS no longer supports SID though (Apple forced me to do so).

Cheers

They have a policy about users downloading and running code. Maybe if you just include the HVSC, you can get around it? There's another sid player: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sid-pla … 37485?mt=8 ; maybe the difference is that they don't let the user add .sid files. Which are executable code, aren't they? I've seen so many apps like this..

Yeah its annoying - especially to those who bought the iOS app just for the SID capability. I have toyed with the idea of pre-processing all of the 50,000 or so SID files into a common "SID sequencer" format. The files themselves would be larger than the original .SID files but they'd still be way less than the size of an MP3. But is there really a demand?

Apple would be happy for me to include HVSC, but then HVSC wouldn't be happy about that. I did have the discussion with them.

Yeah that sounds like a lot of work! Plus headaches from trying to support every single quirky song.

Damn, that's a pickle. It seems like Apple used to allow apps that would let you download full roms from the web, for music purposes. I guess they stopped looking the other way on that. That sucks, Apple should lighten up a LOT on emulation. The only other workaround I can think of is Cydia.

If I had more time I'd be up for the challenge smile Tools like SIDDump output the register states every 50times a second etc so its doable. You also have SID songlength databases that tell you how long each subtune within a SID file is etc. The more I type about it, the easier its starting to sound smile
