The eyefall of chipmusic.org seems so incredibly low compared to the old days of 8bc, which to be fair, despite being brimming with idiots, was indeed a bustling place. every forum was chocka, people replied immediately, due to the huge volume of users. here things are so slow, which is often good due to less ridiculous meme responses etc. but still.... it feels kinda barren in here, still, after years of the site existence.

Democratically elected Prime Minister David Cameron just happens to be a direct descendent of King William IV. This makes him fifth-cousins with Queen Elizabeth II.

Against all odds, Cameron’s wife Samantha is 11th cousins with Queen Elizabeth II. She’s also a descendent of King Charles II and a distant cousin of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Cameron and Johnson are, in fact, eighth cousins.

The blood link is not the only thing the two men have in common. Cameron and Johnson were both at Eton, both were members of the notorious Bullingdon Club at Oxford, both entered Parliament in 2001 — and both want to be Prime Minister.

Coincidentally, UKIP leader Nigel Farage received a £600,000 donation from a former BNP member.

8bc put its music section up front, so a lot of people came to browse the music, and then later jumped into the forum, but stayed around for the music foremost. Here, there is a music section but it's not very important so if you're not interested in discussion there's not much to stay around for. That's my theory

Very true. And I attribute this to the general lack of free hosting/file sharing/social media at the time. There was no Bandcamp, Soundcloud or any of that back then so the best place to post and consume chip music was definitely 8bc.

also worth pointing out that a significant percentage (possibly around 1/3rd) of accounts on 8bc were ones that only seemed to participate by voting on tracks they liked on one or two instances before being abandoned.. add in all the accounts that were just people posting stupid memes in off-topic threads and it's no surprise that this site has a much smaller active user base.. on top of all that, after 8bc died and many users flocked here they significantly altered the way people interact on this site which caused many long-time chip musicians to decide to just avoid forums entirely...

That's sad. I learnt everything I know about how to tune chips from forums.
