i bought two of these to try this kind of thing, simple answer is no,

i am thinking of making a wireless adapter thing for the SP that can link with midi or another gameboy wirelessly but also transmit the sound wirelessly so you can have it totally portable but still plugged into the mixer.

also your original thing about having headphones on the SP, i fit headphone jacks to all my SPs which saves having the adapter

that's too bad you can't use them for wireless sync.

but your idea is amazing. as always.

they might still be useful for something i will have to keep playing about with them. but basically if you plug one into your gameboy and switch it on without a game in, then it comes up with a different menu. the SP can recive bootable code through its link port, which is how the wireless adapter creates the menu. but it means they are smart, and don't just convert the link cable signals to wifi.
