Both artists that put the mixes together call themselves skweee.... who am I to argue ... I literally thought that skweee like chip was defined by its method of production but am curious if there is more to it, one of the reasons I started this thread is I found it odd that for example eprom who could get away with being called chip prefers to call himself skweee... why is that?

I saw a performance with the people that launched the term skweee (Flogsta Danshall / Harmönia) last year at a festival, and I was a bit surprised by what they played. While for me skweee was about wonky slow beats and old electronic sounds, it seems to have drifted more towards hiphop and dubstep these days. And like you say, the method of production was involved in skweeezing as much as possible out of old analogue gear. But I guess it's been VSTified since. Or did you mean something else by method of production?

It's all about EPROM's Sweatboxxx (first tune off his 09' Mixtape). Fucking MASSIVE.

yeah my very limited understanding was exactly that... music produced on analogue gear... that said there seems to be a tempo and some stylistic aesthetics common around most of it ... but really I think it is one of those things that isn't even really a thing

What utter bollocks. Why do people invent these daft genres?

Does anyone really think it's clever anymore? Don't you realise how you come across to normal people? wink

Why can't you all just call it "pop"?

(Only semi-seriously).

Music produced on analogue gear. I know some music like that. Like Bob Dylan, right? wink
