“The idea was as audacious as it was brilliant. Noted New Wave promoter Ian Copeland was the first to acknowledge the symmetry between the explosive creativity in the growing New Wave scene and that in the relatively new medium of Video Games. His concept: A Halloween event at Hurrahs, an upscale club on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, with the best and brightest of the New Wave Constellation mingling with the gameratti of the Atari World. The date was set: Devil’s Night, 1981.
The initial lineup featured a Who’s Who of New Wave acts, with Klaus Nomi performing the music of “Warlord,” the B-52s performing the music of “Yar’s Revenge,” and Blondie performing music from “Missile Command.” The event itself was a magnificent failure, as the Atari fans found as little in common with the New Wave crowd as the New Wavers found in the community of nascent gamers. Halfway through Klaus Nomi’s technical issue-plagued opening set (he had performed with a series of cabinets modded to use Marshall stacks as speakers, but the noise was tinny and abrasive, at best), a large fight broke out and the house lights and PA were cut for a number of minutes before order could be restored.
Visibly bored patrons streamed out the exits and there was barely a fifth of the initial turnout remaining by the time Blondie took the stage. The press was even less impressed than the audience, doling out uniformly-savage reviews that seemingly put a nail in the coffin of the possibility that art and digital gaming would intersect again.
It would be years before anyone would attempt to replicate the concept, albeit with different parameters. What they ended up doing would change the face of music forever…”

Saskrotch as DETHKLOK
http://www.myspace.com/saskrotch
For years, Saskrotch has been known as a pioneer and innovator in the often uninspiring field of chipbreak. Over the last 6 years he’s put out 14 releases under various pseudonyms, usually self released under his Give Daddy The Knife and Handheld Heroes labels. Usually sticking to heavily layered melodies and hyperactive break beats, this Halloween he’ll be performing as the world’s most successful cartoon metal band of all time: Dethklok. If the limits of brutality is a concept that escapes you, you will not want to miss this.

Chipocrite as PRINCE

Paul Weinstein started making music with Game Boys in early 2009. It was the sound he felt he was destined to create, a mix of old and new, a way to bridge the comforting video game tones he grew up with and the complex but catchy songs he was hearing in his head all those years later. He’s constantly adding new songs to his repertoire, which has been described as “upbeat and danceable.” He’s also been known to throw in some electric bass or guitar every so often. It’s exciting, it’s neato, and, above all, it’s some of the most fun he’s ever had making music.

As the ancient myth makers knew, we are children equally of the earth and the sky. Now, two souls intertwine to present an alternate reality to you. Synchronize the ebb and flow of your mind with the rods and cones of your eyes. The island is becoming a sun. Wait by the mistletoe bush and you will get the feeling of really being out of the world and with it. The sun is now an inlet of freshness whose very nature causes it to dry up.
In the vastness of space and the immensity of time, it is our joy to share a planet and an epoch with you.
