Hello, this is pikoboy.

I just learned of this website from snesei and love it!

My inspirations come from ymck, omodaka, sexy-synthesizer, hige-driver, when I meet them living in Japan.
Chiptunes and other music that sound 'piko-piko' is just pure awesome.

However, coming back to Detroit I found that chiptunes is heavily under-appreciated.
And it's not even easy to find new good music here... thank god for internet.

Anyways, I meet snesei at Youmacon 2011 playing his DMG on the floor,
and we decided come up with ways to help the chip-community.

We are super amateurs but we love chiptunes, and we want to see more of the music locally...

So, we introduce you "Piko Piko Detroit"!

A Detroit based community that will bring chiptunes closer to everyone with love.
We are are welcome to all music influenced by chiptunes, that we call "Piko Piko". (which means "Bleep Bleep" in Japanese)

If you love piko piko music, please help us with the movement.

We're calling out for people that are able to meet up and plan events in the Detroit/Ann Arbor area.

Here are some things we want to do:
- Sharing and expanding our library of piko piko music.
- Education of chiptunes and sound bending.
- Planning and operating events at clubs and live houses.
- Gaining experience of performance and production of music.

...and some day... get those awesome Japanese artists to come play at an event in Detroit!

Please feel free to leave any comments or criticism.

Thanks for reading! |^3^|b

At the very least you have excellent taste! I've seen them all in the last 2 years and they all throw a completely amazing live show to boot. Goodluck with your quest friend.

Thanks! It would be great for more people to appreciate the style of music.

I also want to help bridge Japan (cuturally & economically) to the outer world!!!
They're so behind in everything right now... :-(

I didn't get to see any of his live performances...

He's been playing at a new series called "MotoLoid" which looks very cool.
Fore more information: http://motoloid.info/

However, I meet him at an 8-Bit Cafe event and spoke with him and his 'manager/producer'.
They were really friendly and he was kinda scruffy. I meet his manager again at Fami-Mode 2011.

His 2nd album that includes the popular song 'ukigumo' has been recently re-produced sold at Village Vanguards around Tokyo!

I'm Japanese but I grew up in Michigan.

I lived in Japan for the past 2 years, and now I'm back!

Excuse my English since it's influenced by so many international relationships!

Anyways, I think I've been lacking the "american slang" nature to my tongue lately :-P

I don't either, but it's worth the try!

My post might have sounded too formal, but I consider a plan is always good.

It's totally a casual and a hobbyist thing, so if it's friendly and gets loved by more people... great!

So, any information on possible venues for 'electronic/chiptune' events, or places to gather is appreciated.

Just hoping to help build some sort of community in the local Detroit area.

Thanks!
