I'll bet most of you haven't heard of Mr. Gimmick.

probably the most advanced soundtrack ever made for the NES.  Crazy Japan only Sunsoft game that came out super late in the NES dev cycle.

Awesome! I had never heard of this one. It sounds like they did the same thing as Silus where they loaded bass synth samples into the DCIM channel to give it that awesome sound. It was sort of sunsofts trademark..I guess Journey to Sillius doesn't really qualify as underrated, as I found its listed in the top 15 on some sites lists.

I had heard this before. Really great stuff. This one is excellent proof that you can make some heartfelt slow music on the NES. There was never enough of that. Most "town" songs in NES rpgs were so annoying.

This theme is a masterpiece. And nobody knows why, me neither. I just love it.

PS: If you slow down it to 50% it will become a little more understandable.

WOW, it's just like, all over the place, super original though...

Such good stuff here guys. In fact, it got me thinking about making an article on 'the last days of [insert system].' I remember all these NES games coming out when SNES was in full-swing...I think it'd be interesting to revisit some of these, I bet there are some gems in there...

I was so obsessed with this game growing up. Probably poured like 200 hours or more into it. Maybe played all the way through like, 3 times?

I mean it's super simple but I just love how full the melodies sounded on this OST.

Also no one ever talks about the sick boss music in Kirby's Dreamland 2, why?

not at all underrated, but probably the first Gameboy game where I would just stop to listen to the tunes.  The 7/8 section is so nasty good, as well as the chords on the final turnaround.

only video I could find.
If there was a clean rip of the entire soundtrack anywhere, you'd all get it

I know most of it derivative of other Pokemon games, but the jazzy tunes in Pokemon Pinball is one of my favorite soundtracks. They are just so swingy.

Interesting fact: the Blue Field Catch'Em Mode song is a swung version of the original Japanese Pokemon theme song.

Listen to the original track:

Then the Pokemon Pinball one:

It's freaking genius, how the second song was directly derived from the original.

Every single song is amazing.

(Every song from this game is also great)
