[bio from my soundcloud website]
Because this bio is over 2 years old the info is kind of outdated. Although history never changes .
In a nutshell... I decided to stick with Chiptunes (Yay for all the subscribes of the past couple of months).
Since I lost hearing in my left ear I do not feel capable anymore of finalizing music that needs that specific flavor (like trance and stuffies) so for now it will be chiptunes to the max . I love this style cause it is almost limitless and let me do all the crazy things that I love from the music back in the days.
Thank you all for listening. Music keeps me going on in life, every single song is a reflection of a period and a direct translation of my personal mood.
Stories that has to be shared without words, but let me tell you, they have tons of stories to tell.
Now back to the old Bio:
(Keep in mind that this has been written 2 years ago .)
Hi there!
What brings you to this piece of text, you are looking at the wrong section of the website! It is the audio that is telling the story, but wait you actually are looking for more information about the creator? Wow people read these days on the internetz? Well if you are still here... I can share some information about me . Hi! It's Carf, or sometimes Carfie, other days Carf Darko, it doesnt matter, aslong the music shares the vibe that Carf creates the label does not have any futher meaning. Then why the different names? Well because I do not have one standard in music. I simply cannot focus on one specific style, I just do what I love and the inspiration that comes from so many sources can never be one and the same style. Besides that, I would be bored by now if I would have created Hardcore (Gabber for overseas readers/listeners) for over 15 years!
Lets go back to where it all started. A little 14 year old Carfie begged his parents until their ears started to bleed for an Amiga500, back then it was just for the games and because I loved the sound of the system. If I only knew about what was going to happen that day when I got a program called Pro-Tracker II.
It was a 4 track MOD tracker. Although it took me 2 hours before I understood how to open a song... when it finally worked out (Prodigy - No Good/Start the dance) something magical happened. I started to understand how all that music for the Sega Megadrive was created and I knew that I wanted to learn how to create *music* with a program like that.
Keep in mind that the sound back in the days was nothing compaired to the digital standard we have these days!
No internetz, no youtube for tutorials, no friends who understood what I was trying to figure out (for them it was all about Mortal Kombat 2) but within a few months I started to understand the basics. Months became years, Pro-Tracker became FastTracker II on DOS. Hardcore became more Trance and slowly turned into a long period of HipHop Beatz. Some Synths came and go (still got my Roland MC505 Groovebox ). And finally I ended up with FruityLoops 9 years ago and stick with it. Fruity you say? Yes FL! It rules! So please spare me the comments that Ableton or Reason is *better* cause I have one very simple answer. It is all about the end result.
Nowdays music is still one of my most beloved hobbies (besides gaming and keeping a close eye on the VG scene itself). My style is hard to describe but I like to say that I create what I want. It can take you to places, share experiences, make you sad, make you smile, make you dance, make you think. My music is created with a heart. Every single song that is available online is a track that got my personal seal of approval and those who don't are kept in the refrigiator.
Although all my music is made for me and myself only in the first place I share the songs that I think are relevant to share with the world. 2011 and 2012 have been my Videogame Music years and 2013 will be another VG year as some awesome projects are about to start.
For now things are going very well and I hope to see my music reaching the right people who love crazy creative stuff like me.
Greetz!
Carfie!
