When I was young I used to play my uncle's gamegear just to hear the music of the sonic games. Roughly 10 years later I found out about chipmusic and warmly welcomed back the sounds through a clothing company. I didn't have a clue how they did it so I wiggled the cartridge in a gameboy advance and was delighted at the sounds that were created. Then, the first chip musician I found introduced me to nanovoice; a 4-bit lo-fi synth. This got me wanting more and in a matter of months I found what I had been looking for; a free 8-bit music tracker called Famitracker.
