What a sad day for music. The Beastie Boys have always been an inspiration to me as a musician.
Tribute comp?

you guys don't have to do a comp every time something happens

I've actually had the idea for a Beastie Boys comp in my head for some time now. MCA's death just triggered it to the surface. I didn't see anyone suggest a Whitney Houston comp. No one is obligated to do anything either, it was a mere suggestion. If there's enough interest maybe something will happen, either way I'll probably just personally make my own tribute cover.

Yes
Yes we do
Any excuse is a good excuse
Shotgun on "Girls"
For it awesome, easy and I already made it.

May I suggest that some of you guys use the Beastie Boys acapellas? They have 32 official ones here, perfect quality with BPM listed.

yeah I remember these ones...think its time to do something with that !
RIP MCA !
I was just thinking of doing a cover with my band, I'm down for a tribute thing.
Dibs on Sabotage if no one minds.
...and of course RIP MCA.

now we're talking. listenint to a b.b. chip tribute without vocals would be boring.

do you have to do this in every thread?
just shut your fat fucking mouth every once in a while
Kinda cool how the beastie boys (and a bunch of others) were in that little window when technology was good enough but copyright was lax enough to do super creative sample based music using pretty much whatever the hell they pleased.

If we're going to do a tribute and one done right, you HAVE TO use their acappella samples or record your own vocals. What's the point of making a tribute album dedicated to rap artists if you're not going to rap or use their raps? I guess you could do a cover of their early punk rock stuff but very few people even know that they started out that way.
