But seriously, you can distort your vocals with tons of things besides distortion. Try running a heavily modulated chorus through a short reverb for one.
You can make on of those phone mics for like 4 dollars, assuming you already own a soldering iron and old phone. It'll do the job. You want overdrive not distortion, two totally different things.

Very true. O and D are very different things. Have anyone tried singing through an overdrive pedal?
Digitech vocal 300 or something like that. Don't use guitar pedals.
I use cigarettes to get decent vocal distortion
Filtering, EQ, overdrive a compressor, sing through a guitar amp, experiment!
