Post your thoughts on or let us know about the latest thing you just read/listened to/watched/otherwise consumed.

Simple, right?
I'll go first:

Of course, I saw Prometheus last weekend.  All I've got to say is that it shines through brighter in some spots than others (and at some points, it REALLY shines).  There were points that had me on the edge of my seat, and there were moments that had me cocking an eyebrow.  Nice to know where the Space Jockeys came from, but a real nerd knows that they're actually just extending an old story from the comic books to officially become Aliens canon...

Just finished reading "A Small Town in Germany" - John Le Carre, same guy that wrote "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy".  He has a way with words that I simply can't do justice; unlike most spy novels, which are international globe-trotting affairs, he makes the expansive cities of Cold War West Germany feel cramped and claustrophobic.  Glacial in pace but meticulous and articulate in a way that I've literally never seen before.

MushiShi is a very interesting show.  I like anime, but I generally confine myself to a few of its more comfortable corners.  MushiShi falls very neatly into the "Quiet, relaxed, stimulating" corner, with a dash of the Twilight Zone thrown in and some Ghibli-like imagination to boot.

Oh, speaking of anime, I've been keeping up with the return of Toonami.  Deadman Wonderland and Cashern Sins are both awesome, with any luck they'll be adding a number of new shows if the ratings keep trending up, as they have been for the past few weeks.

Your turn.

These 3 new songs I wrote are pretty great to listen to.

This Smirnoff Ice I am nursing is quite good.

The burger I ate for dinner two hours ago was way overpriced for what I got.

Diablo III is pretty fun when I play with my dad.

Heartbreak Ridge and Apollo 13 are pretty great movies even though I've seen them too many times.

I've never watched Purple Rain all the way through but it's a good album.

This is what my twitter feed probably looks like.  I'm sorry for anyone who follows my personal account on twitter.  It's my fault I'm not popular.

I haven't watched much anime in the last couple of years, but just last night i finished catching up to the latest episode of Kids on the Slope (Sakamichi no Apollon).

if you liked Cowboy Bebop then you simply must watch this series.  it's about jazz.  it's got Shinichiro Watanabe directing.  and it's got Yoko Kanno doing the music.  i don't need to say any more.

Looking forward to seeing "The Dark Knight Rises". I've been watching those movies for years. Chris Nolan is an awesomely talented filmmaker. I may also get the soundtrack as well... I have the other two already.

Chris Nolan can do pretty much anything; I think he's got this one in the bag.  Also, Hans Zimmer big_smile

"There Will Be Blood" looks extremely compelling and well-made, but I haven't seen it yet.

It is.  No idea how it compares to the book, but Daniel Day Lewis is easily one of the best actors in the world and the rest of the production is certainly up to that standard.

I recently got linked to this short anime. It's very pleasant, cute and inspiring. You should take 5 minutes of your day to watch it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qCbiCxBd2M smile)))))))))))))))))))))

Other media hmmmmmmmmm.... I really want to play DayZ, so far I have only watched videos, but it looks like a great game to play with friends. It's like a "realistic" zombie apocalypse mod for ARMA 2.

I used to be REALLY into ARMA II, and after tinkering a little with DayZ I can confirm that as a result of being a part of that wargaming platform it is pretty much as close as you're going to get to a realistic zombie apocalypse experience.

Media thread? hmmm
Just got out of school so I've been reading/watching a lot.

Just watched a bunch of "Breaking Bad", "Cosmos", "Bob's Burgers", and "How I Met Your Mother".
The first two are both fantastic and "Cosmos" is straight out beautiful at times. The latter two are both pretty funny and good for a quick laugh I guess.

Just recently read "1984", super fantastic; it's both exciting and thought provoking on a massive scale. I'm in the middle of "Brave New World", "The Diversity of Life", "The Stand" and some others. All are very good so far. Also just read "To Kill a Mockingbird". Very good, but it's way too simple and not in depth enough to be the masterpiece some people make it out to be

Just watched that one movie where Selena Gomez has a doppelganger so she takes her food and pretends to be her. It was terrible and the writers can't seem to grasp basic concepts of logic. Don't watch it.

I've recently played through about half of Earthbound. Very very awesome game, I'd reccommend it to anyone.

That's about it. Pardon my generic taste
