Ah, very interesting!

I managed to edit the config file to get 2.4 to find the MIDI interface and the FM device, but it still sounds funny compared to recordings.

I tried running both 2.3 and 2.4 from the prompt in MS-DOS mode and the computer didn't like that. Weird.

I admittedly haven't done the best homework on this; I'm not the most skilled user of DOS.

I'll try the AWE32 drivers from Creative and see what happens. Thanks for the tip! wink

This sounds very interesting!

Is it supposed to be working like a VST plug in any DAW as well? If so, have anyone tried it? I tried to find some info on the subject but just gave it a quick look and came up with nothing hmm I'm pretty retarded when it comes to understanding electronics and software so any help would be much appreciated smile

I'll try to find some more info when I'm back from work.

Cheers

I'm not super experienced with modern DAWs, so I can't answer your question well, but I think you can just use it as an external midi slave in a way similar to how you would use a MIDIbox FM.

Well, I managed to crash the shit out of my PentiumIII 98SE laptop trying to get the MPU-401 support working. I don't know why the lappy didn't like it. It's kind of a moot point anyway, it doesn't have a standard game port on it… I'm not sure how I'd go about connecting my controller to it anyway.

It's all good, though. I have a Yamaha YMF7xx card in the mail, and my XP machine is going to get a 98SE partition, so we'll be putting the FM in Funky Music shortly~~

No, this is stand-alone software to be used in either old PC computers running DOS, it's not a VSTi. The MIDI capabilities come as you plug a MIDI interface onto your old DOS computer.

I was afraid that would be the case, thank's for the answer Akira and Telerophon!

If you do actually want an FM VSTi, VOPM is a free, open source one that a few people have used to great effect which sounds beyond decent.

There are a cumulative 8 tracks or so on the FM FUNK compilations Vol. I and Vol. II, including a couple of stellar pieces by virt.

So I tried to get the SDL version running on my computer, but it doesn't accept any mouse or keyboard input. The command prompt reads something like "WARNING: Mouse driver not detected!". I'm running Windows 8 Consumer Preview, which has been known to have a lot of weird driver issues.

Anyone know any fixes? Or do I just have to stick with dosbox?

I don't have much experience with AT2 yet since I've mostly dicked around and played modules between breaking my compatible computers, but it seems to me like all the mouse really does is scroll to different parts of the interface?

yes thats all the mouse is used for... to move to the lower parts of the channels.

Weird. I just re-downloaded AdlibTracker yesterday. Are there any guides on using this beast?
