Mezz Room - upstairs in TWISTED PEPPER, Abbey Street, Dublin, IRELAND 11pm
Gamepak returns to celebrate half a year's existence as Ireland's only monthly chipmusic night , with the usual bleepity hyperactive mix of videogame-inspired tunage, bigscreen multiplayer gaming action and funky 8-bit visuals. Expect all manner of gametastic sounds, from super fast, super slick chiptune to skwonky squelchy bleepy goodness, with a few doses of deconstructed amen-breaks and hip-hop mash-ups, with retro-tech lo-fi visuals to go with the upfront bit-crunched sounds.
This month Gamepak welcomes Will Erixon aka the mighty SHERE KAHNN, for his first Dublin show, crunking and mashing up the bits and blips with a bombardment of beats akin to what the bastard lovechild of Sabrepulse and Bong-Ra might sound like (we imagine).
Meanwhile, Q-Pop returns to Gamepak with a full audio-visual 8-bit technoid set, passionately bashed out of a variety of hardware, software and assorted oddware. Keeping on the experimental vein, Gamepak resident tunespinner DJ Zyme dons his Glotchbot hat, to squeeze some glitchy gnarly technoise out of a Nintendo DS via Conway's Game of Life as a sequencer. Support comes from resident commodore commando C60Force, keeping the SID-chip sounds blazing as usual, while the Fishingcat brings us another his brilliantly skewed Mario mixes of game soundtrack tunes, hippity-hoppity beats and in-game samples.
Bigscreen videogames will be there for all to enjoy - as well as the usual multiplayer favourites we'll have a few vintage surprises, and the return of post-apocalypic tetris!!
