hey chipf*ckers

I've been thinking of something...

what if we re-upload all the chiptunes from the now dead 8bitcollective site?

I mean, youtube is an option, but it's a lot of work to convert 18 GB of mp3 to a video format, and then select image or something and then upload everything to youtube.

There are many other options, and I was thinking that goear is one of the bests. Amm something like this:
http://www.goear.com/playlist/6dd13c9/puro-chiptune

What I want is to have on hand any song, any time, anywhere while internet is available. No need to downlaod programs and shit to listen to my favourite stuff, and it would be cool that anyone can access to that material easy and fast.

The idea is something like this:
A team of volunteers (20 or more) download the torrent containing all chiptunes from 8bc
http://fuckyeahchiptune.tumblr.com/post … collective
then each persone selects a group of songs by letter (example: all the songs starting with letter 'b' ) (you can download only that letter from the torrent if you prefer)

and then the user uploads those songs to goear, in a colaborative playlist, named "8bc" or whatever.

What's the difference with the torrent?
the torrent is only to download the file, then you need a client torrent, and the player program.
With this 'idea' is to get instantly playable songs online fast and simple, ordered by list. HTML5 interface, compatible with most devices and web-browsers.

What do you think?

i'd volunteer
by "player program" do you mean a program to play formats like .nsf? if that is what you're talking about, would you want the volunteers to render everything to mp3?

yea, I do. If possible, for the volunteers (of course it's possible) to render formats like nsf mod it etc...
I've just downloaded the entire torrent, and it's 2.5 GB space disk left!
but it would take me months to upload everything by myself.

There are only 25 nsf files

why would it take you months to upload? just curious

because goear admits only uploading 1 song at the time tongue
and you have to accept terms of service after each upload
in 8bc torrent there are more than 4000... but it seems it has no limits, not like soundcloud (you've got a limit of 2 hours of audio there) and I already uploaded more than 5 hours of my music.

I shall re-download it after I've cleared out all of the shows that I haven't deleted yet that are taking up lots of space (mostly 200 odd eps of gintama)

it was 18gb of songs that all had 10 or more favorites. If it wasn't, then there'd be way more shit in there, also some of it would be mine, which would be an indicator of poor quality.

Anyway, garbage is in the eye of the beholder, yadayada
