I did this, I used a Casio DG-20 and plugged it into an arduino (Komakuya's Notabomb) and then into a DMG. Didn't work well.

But they removed one because the guitar only supports 7-bit ASCII strings. (Oh man, nerd jokes that almost don't make sense.)
