Wiki idea? (Page 1) - General Discussion - Forums

So I've been lurking for a while now...

So I was thinking it would be cool to make a wiki surrounding 8-bit culture (8bit console modding, chipmusic/chiptune, glitch/pixel/ansi art, you get the idea ) and call it 8bw.org (8bit wiki), I know it sounds like 8bitcollective, but this is more of a wiki (using mediawiki software), not a forum.

I've heard about these wiki 8bit websites.
http://8bit.wikia.com/wiki/8bit_Wiki <- (That for one is in polish) It looks cool, and is, but it mostly about 8bit games and consoles. I want to make wiki that has more modern type content, but using 8bit hardware and 8bit visuals.

I love this site (and http://blog.gg8.se/, awesome blog!) and I have been then many times when learning GB programming, but its more about gameboy development and programming.

Is it lame or a good idea to make 8bw?, has it already been done?

OHAI! There's chipaedia.com which someone else owned the domain for and I offered hosting for. The plan was to transfer the domain to me but that went down the drain and the domain is now owned by domain nappers. The site still exists, but without a permanent domain, and with account registrations disabled for spam reasons. It's on my todo list to clean it up and get it up and running again

I've added it as a subdomain so you can access it
http://chipaedia.gg8.se/

That might fail because my web host is taking time to update the DNS records. If so, try this for the time being:
http://chipaedia.com.preview.binero.se/

So would it be a bad idea to try to make a new wiki? Since there already chipaedia, any other ideas for websites with 8bit culture? I've been working on a chan type site that about 8bit related stuff. Man, i need to clean up my site and finish its imageboard software :T

Browsed that for a bit, there's not much on it right now, but if everyone works to fill it, it will work nicely.
