Does anyone think about how a vocaloid piece could go with their song when writing?

Has anyone produced much chip/vocaloid stuff? I couldn't find much at all myself... Most were just vocaloid songs redone purely 8bit

Not usually but once I had a vocaloid song stuck in my head but then I realized it wasn't an actual song but something I thought up by myself so I sketched it out in famitracker

Without turning this into the final chipmusic existentialist thread of the year, there's a lot of the stuff out there depending on what sort of sound or song you are looking for. A lot of the "P's" will use electronic blips as part of their styles but not necessarily make it the whole song. If you're looking for covers, like a Gameboy version of Melt, they're out there.

If you want Miku singing over a NES or Gameboy, or any number of Vocaloid or UTAU characters "singing" the blips and videogame VGMs, that's all out there too. Though the best thing this scene and that one is, if you want to make stuff like that on your own time and gear, you can.

There is another part of your question that I wonder about, "Do you think about how [another] song can go with your song when you are writing?" Yes, because that's how you learn to take another person's idea and make it work in your more personal context.

I think jiffypop23 and other chipartist (not sure if was kommisar) have done some chip songs with a vocaloid program.

I don't have much pure chip + vocaloid stuff, I usually blend the two with other things :3

Virt uses vocaloid from time to time, but I haven't found any raw chiptune and vocaloid stuff.

There are so many similarities between the two scenes that I'm surprised there aren't more attempts to cross them, especially now that most of the software and techniques are well-documented.

I would, but I can't write music

I would like to see someone do something like this though, it has been an idea that I've had for a while, but never acted on.

Do you mean DMG or fake + vocal or something else?

If you mean YMCK if Miku was singing, start with http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22409251
or anything with this tag: http://www.nicovideo.jp/tag/chiptune%C3 … 3%E3%82%AF

I was thinking fami + vocals, so yeah, that top one is the kinda thing I was thinking of, although if was making it, it's be a little less pop-y.
I don't listen to that much vocaloid music other than the stuff in the games, however I do like this song. I'd listen to more electronic/glitchy stuff like this. I might have to try writing some lo-fi vocaloid stuff now.

-edit-

Yeah seemed to me like they'd fit together well. An old electronic chiptune sound with a distinctive electronic voice? Seemed perfect.

Hey! This turned out to be the exact kinda thing I was looking for. I think a lot of artists could discover this to be really nice to complement the blips.

You certainly ain't the only one.  tongue

Making vocaloid music is one of my main goals for the future.  I'd love to have chiptune / vocaloid music as well.  I gotta learn how to make good music first though.  hmm  As others have said, there are plenty of vocaloid songs out there with chiptune sounds in them, though they're not quite the whole song.  It's at least a step in that direction though.  As a small example of that, here's an old favorite of mine:

Gumi - Endless
