Anyone know of any? Or at least some fun and/or interesting music making apps? Sometimes I find it hard to wait until I get home to make music... Haha this may get me fired!

I think you can get nanoloop for the i-products.
You can get this cool free thing called synthesizer express, which lets you fiddle with a bunch of wavs and effects.
I saw a video for a cool iphone oscilator that made different noises when you moved the ipod up and down and pressed on the screen in different places.

Although I haven't tried the iPhone version, ReBirth is a great bit of software. Two 303s, an 808 and a 909 - what more do you need? wink Fun, fun, fun.

Been really tempted to buy this a couple times... It's been rated really badly though for not being well adapted for iPhone use. Controls are apparently fiddly So that put me off.

Anyway to answer the question, there aren't a whole lot of music apps that are specifically 8bit. There is nanoloop for iPhone which I strongly reccomend. And I know there's some synth app that's got 8bit in the title and has words like retro plastered all over the reviews and description. But there are ALOT of synth apps for the iPhone and I'm fairly sure you could make chippy sounds with most of them.
There is a Sunvox app too, which is not really 8bit... But it's a tracker program if you dig trackers. It's really good too and you can get suprisingly complicated songs out of your iPhone using it. There's a free version of Sunvox for pc/mac if you want to check it out.

Thanks for the reccomendations. Didn't realize nanoloop was available as an app... awesome! I also saw a video about "8bitone" which seems kinda neat. It has a piano roll for editing patterns which is nice, and the synth seems pretty complete with square, tri, sine, and white noise waveforms along with the adsr envelope control. The sunvox app along with rebirth and nanoloop seem to be the best ones for actually creating complete songs though. I'm definately gonna get those.

Hi there guys. 8bitone is pretty cool. It's got a sequencer, piano roll, pulse osc, saw osc, tri, noise, LFO and an arp. I recommend it for chippy sounds. It could be a lot cooler with a filter tho. Nanoloop is my favorite iphone music app. It's really versatile, and just sounds sick. As for rebirth I found the buttons were just too small. Probably would be maddening to make a whole song with it.

oh, theres also a pretty cool synth called NESynth. It's just a synth, but sounds neat.

Honestly, while I highly recommend, it can be fiddly on an itouch/iphone (idk if its better on the 5). If you have an ipad, must buy. Still great and the app has the same features as the pc version, which is alot. Its modular, so it can get deep. Also, it was updated like last week, but don't expect too frequent updates, like maybe once or twice every year. The developer is great, too, he responds to almost everything on the forum.
