Like everyone else has said, throw in the resistor. I found mine at my local Radioshack for $2 for a pack of 5. Also, try fresh batteries, the light tends to fade a bunch with the Power LED.

I burnt the LEDs down a bit but it works now so I'm happy! This is the best I could get of it because it's so dim. hmm

I agree. I have burned at least 2 LEDs by forgetting the resistor. Now I have a notebook with all my shit I need to remember. 3-)

@DMGer, A resistor is put in series with the light so that it can limit the current going to the light. You can use any resistor between 30ohms to 100ohms because resistance isn’t the key here, it’s just there to limit the current being supplied to the LED. If you don’t put in the resistor, there can be so many different implications, burning the LED is one of the them and since there is no limit on the current being supplied to the LED, it can damage rest of the circuit  as well.
