I want to surprise my lady friend with a custom-modded Castlevania NES controller, but I'm horrendously inexperienced with paints.  I'd like to find a jet black paint for the base.  I don't know whether matte or glossy would look better, but I'd like it to be durable and vibrant (as vibrant as black can be, that is).  I realize this is a terribly noobish thing to ask, but I want to get it done right the first time.  Suggestions?

Thanks, chums!  Are these pretty easy to track down?  More accurately, are they brands I could find in most craft/hobby shops?  Or are they something that would have to be special ordered?  I don't mind paying extra cash for higher quality--it's the time constraint I'm trying to conscious of.

Those paints can be hard to find in big-box craft shops like Michaels or Jo-Anne's. Usually you'd want to look for them at smaller craft shops. You'll have to call around, or if you specifically want Montana, use this:
