So basically, this is "presenting chiptune to people as if it was the stuff they already hear, and see what happens"?

It's going to die in a natural disaster
SID chips will become more valuable than anything and chiptune puritans will start crushing them up and snorting them in order to achieve chiptune-bliss but in that rampaging drug-war the chiptune we know and love will falter in a wasteland and it will be lost, forever etched into the burnt out electronics that humans used to use to make chiptune.
The Chipmusic of the future will be the cutting-edge music of today.

it will have higher resolution for automation (automation envelopes), true BPM, more software availiable on android/ios and more assignable LFOs...Maybe even some new commercially financed hardware...(something similar in form to yamaha qy100, but including a capacitive touchscreen)...gamepad control method with touchscreen usage for faders and knobs will be recognised as the most comfortable input method.
