Hey all!

So I have the following cables...

(I'm very new to the whole soldering thing)

How should I approach this? What should I solder to what, and is this possible/are these cables compatible?

Thanks!
-Sam

PS: For the link cable portion, I'm going to cut off the GBA sync cable part, how should I seal that back over?

The GB link is a modified one. 2 slave (one of which is a GBA port) 1 master

Are you trying to make Eurorack-style control voltage interact directly with LSDJ? You'll need a real circuit to make that happen, but I did read something about someone making a direct connection between a gameboy link port and a modular synth CLOCK signal. This (short) thread may be of some use:

I should note that the stereo/balanced monoprice cable you have probably won't work out too hot, you'd be better off with a mono/unbalanced cable or jack.

No not really, I'm trying to do a sync with the PO-12 from Teenage Engineering and the GBA/DMG for Nanoloop and LSDJ. And plus there are these kinds of 3rd party cables out there: https://evadeanddualitymicro.bandcamp.c … slave-mode

I just want to make one myself since I have the tools lying around.

There's a guide on the nanoloop site:
http://www.nanoloop.com/sync/index.html

I can't give a definitive guide since all of the cables I have are different in terms of the colour of internal wires used, but if you have a multimeter it's not difficult to figure out the pin/colour combinations yourself.

In terms of how to seal it back up again, heat shrink tubing over the soldered cables should do the trick. For the cables I've made, I usually put this in the middle of the cable; it seems to minimise stress that may cause the solder to weaken. Ideally, you'll want to put tubing over each soldered wire pair as well as over the whole thing at the end, to hold everything together nicely.

Another (better) option is to buy a phono plug by itself, like the following:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-5MM-MONO-P … Sw9N1VmoI8

or a higher quality option:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DIY-3-5mm-Ma … xygj5Sm0gw

The only disadvantage of doing it this way is that molded plugs (like in your link above) are generally more sturdy, but buying the plug by itself means that you won't need to use any heat shrink tubing—you can just have the original gameboy cable terminate at the plug, therefore reducing the amount of weak points. Also, it may be fiddly to separate the wiring in those pre-made cables; it tends to be quite delicate. Gameboy wires, on the other hand, are pretty oldskool in that you can just strip the insulation off and solder to something else pretty easily.

I hope this makes sense! I'm not too good at explaining these things.

I tried for 5 hours to make a analog sync (nano as master) with 1/8th udio cable that had a ground and red white for in out. I used a gba cable . And 2 gbc cables and I tried to sync a Po12 and a volca. We figured from another thread that the volca likes the midi analog sync cable better. And for my gba to po12 setup I ended up just buying the master dmg sync cable from evade  and now I'm gunna have to order a dmg to Pocket adapter from japan. I feel like that gba link cable should have worked . All cables after i made them only played one drum hit on steps 1-4 on the PO12 then stops when the po12 was in slave mode. And the korg volca played the 1-4 beat but super fast and on a retriever when it was slave. Any solution ?

just checked out the nanoloop site to see how difficult it will be.  looks pretty straight forward.  hopefully i can get this built before my copy of nanoloop mono shows up.  slightly worried if its possible to blow up my gameboy with to much voltage from my modular synth....
