yo yo yo, whuddup y'aaalll

Anyway, I've been plundering the Nicholas Colin Handmade Electronic music book (awesome btw, if you don't own it, get it.. like now) Anyway, I've been trying to work on a 4017 based gate volume sequencer thingy. I've been playing around to now avail, I can get a nice 8-step LED chain going, but and a bit stumped as to how to get the on/off signals to my volume pots. Can anyone offer this electronics noobie a hand?

Here is a working example of what I'm aiming for (though my messages to the author have gone unanswered)

Thanks for any help!

it looks like those are pots, that control each steps volume.
That being said. it's not a gate sequencer you need to build. you need to build the CV version of the sequencer.
But you'll need to add other electronics too.. i would guess perhaps you could use a vactrol to make things really easy.. but it wont respond very well at super fast speeds.

So you could use a VCA instead and have the 4017 sequencer simply control the VCA's CV input. Probably your best option.
hmm... That gives me an idea for a module.
