Dear Friends,

First of all, I celebrate your new year 2020. I hope this new year will bring us such joy and happiness with more chiptune creations.

Dear Friends,

I would like to purchase two custom Gameboys with LSDJ cartridges but after googling it, I came across with only two webstores which are Deadpan and Retro modding for gameboys but no LSDJ cartridges nowhere on the web.

Do you know any webstores besides them where I could purchase custom Gameboys and LSDJ cartridges, if I may ask please?

Best Wishes

hey - pretty sure they no longer produce official LSDJ carts as carts. What you would need to do is buy a ROM cart of one sort or another

eg:
https://bennvenn.myshopify.com/products … &_ss=r

https://www.retrotowers.co.uk/flash-carts

https://www.retrotowers.co.uk/gb-gamebo … t-card-64m

and buy an LSDJ licence her ($5):

https://www.littlesounddj.com/lsd/index.php

and upload an LSDJ ROM to the ROM cart..

having said that, there are these:

https://www.coolspotgaming.co.uk/produc … -cartridge

BUT - you can't get saves off them easily, or it seems to suggest save more than one song? So not sure how good a solution they are.

p.s. - If you get the GB USB Smart Card 64M  and have an android phone this is a super useful app

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … ;hl=en_GB)
otherwise it's a bit of a pain and Everdrive/Drag and Derp are probably a better solution.

there are more details at the bottom of the LSDJ link

https://www.littlesounddj.com/lsd/index.php

including:

"Official Little Sound Dj cartridges have not been produced for a very long time. There are no definite plans to start again, for several reasons. Sorry for the inconvenience!"

now's a good time to get started though as LSDJ is currently getting revamped and updated...

Lol wtf? That Cool Spot Gaming link is kinda funny, they're using reflashed bootleg pokemon games which only have 32k sram and thus only hold one song at a time. I used to offer the same thing but stopped because I wasn't comfortable with the quality.

But the real WTF is they're using an LSDJ label I designed YEARS ago, I don't even have the files anymore and though they were totally lost! Kinda cool!

There are only two options for me which the first one is - https://www.retrotowers.co.uk/gb-gamebo … t-card-64m

And the second one is - https://bennvenn.myshopify.com/products … &_ss=r

Which one is do you recommend my dear friend?

Holy smokes that's expensive for a GB USB 64M. The prices seem to have gone up on these everywhere, eh? Is that just since they've been discontinued or has this been a gradual thing?

Also, there is this one from the same webstore but thing is also the optional comes with 16gb microSD card.

What I doın't understand is that microSD card comes inside the cartridge or an outside thing? You have any idea my friend?

That's pretty weird but I guess kinda flattering? tongue

Retro Modding has EMS cartridges which they pre-flash with LSDJ upon proof of license: https://www.retromodding.com/products/g … smart-card

The EZ Flash junior is also worth looking into. I haven't tried it, but the specs suggest LSDj would work.

I thought it looked pretty sketchy when I first saw these, but that is pretty odd!

The EMS carts are really expensive now, huh?
I've only ever used the EMS so not sure how the others compare (although I think they're generally more recent solutions and have no internal battery to run out?

Tototek still has EMS carts too:

Been using insidegadgets carts for long time, super cheap. But you need to buy separate flasher. Makes sense if you need multiple carts.

Dear Everyone,

I am stuck at deciding which one to purchase for Gameboy running LSDJ. Money is not problem.

(1) https://www.retromodding.com/collection … rive-gb-x7

(2) http://www.tototek.com/store/index.php? … io1hq0u010

Really money is not an issue. All I want is to be able to save my songs into the cartridge and feeling safe with them whenever I save a song.

Which one do you recommend me?

I have some EMS carts and one Bennvenn cart. I would buy more carts from Bennvenn.  I have been very pleased. Mine doesnt have The switch on the back. That looks like it might suck. Idk. Others have some negative results on here about the operating system design? Idk.
I don't get any kickbacks from Bennvenn or his affiliates, but I do welcome them.
And I wish Catskull had these. I'd buy everything from him again.  He seems to be able to bring dreams to reality like some chiptune hardware Santa Claus.
Brought to you buy taco bell.

Dear Competents,

The picture below is two Gameboys which have two input jacks underneath the machines. One is small the other one is big input jacks.

Does anybody know the names of those input jacks?

Those are line-level audio outputs. The small one is for connecting a stereo 3.5mm (1/8in) TRS and the second is for connecting a 6.65mm (1/4in) TRS. The familiar "name" of those jacks is pro-sound.
If you have no idea what you are buying, start with a non-modified gameboy. In fact, why don't you just get the LSDj licence and use an emulator on your computer.

sadly the word is that they've been discontinued, and whatever is left in stock is what will be left (until ...... ????)

that being said i highly recommend carts from insidegadgets.com - the low-power carts are rock solid and the dev will flash LSDJ for you if you attach a copy of the ROM to your order (they also make 4mb 128kb FRAM carts when the chips are available). however, for an extra ~$20 you can just get the gbxcart-mini flasher and do it yourself, for about the same price as an EMS cart. additionally the new krikzz Everdrive carts support LSDJ now (i would recommend the X5 or X7 if you go that route, but they are pricey).
