an-cat-max has bad taste, obviously.

Pretty much anyone who made chipmusic before 1998 or so is pretty unknown/under-appreciated, with a few exceptions, and people who don't release music as mp3 download albums on netlabels (not bitching, just saying smile)

Edzes, Lysander Lapine, Jammer, Linus, Iwamoo (couldn't find a good link sad), Rophon, Siril, Blz, Yaz are all fairly under-appreciated, I bet Akira's heard it all before though. tongue

Will add this thread to my favourites. big_smile

everyone should check out Makko, a finish composer who made Fasttracker 2 modules a couple of years before and after the millennium. He was a member of Tequila (with Zalza, Nagz, Dalezy etc). Exceptionally good stuff! Jazzy, funky, with a lot of finesse, feeling and attitude. Been one of my very top favourite chiptune composers for many years.

Most of his .XMs (which unfortunately are not that many) can be found on the Modland FTP.

esc is underrated, IMO. Whilst he does play the odd gig, considering he always has a high quality output (and quite high output too!) he's not as respected as he should be.

Also, tenfold should get some more respect, I'd love to see a full live set by him one day!

Japanese uses lots of onomateopea (sp?) with repeated two syllable words. Picopico means in common parlance something like "twinkle twinkle" or "bleepy bleepy" but it kind of found its way into Japanese subculture as a word describing chip music. USK has an ep called "piko piko disco" which is pretty awesome.

Anyway, back on topic.
