Here, you get music views and comments no matter what. On 8bc, you need to call your song something like 'Dubstep Porn Click Here For Free Monies.mp3' to even get a view.

LOL

not true m8

I've got more comments on one song than I have on all of my song here, and it wasn't an absurdly named track, like you say above.

Going through the first page of music uploads here, the one with the most views has got 23. I don't have a single track on 8bc that has less than that.

It is unfortunately a little sad, I uploaded my latest song to here and 8bc yesterday, so far I've gotten only 1 comment and just 3 views here, that's miniscule compared to 87 views with 12 comments over there, out of those comments I've gotten at least 4 good pieces of critique. Say what you will, but 8bc is still a valid resource.

This website presents itself as a forum, with music uploading added on.
8bc presents itself as a media-sharing website, with an included forum.

I see nothing wrong with adopting 8bc's format.

8bc also has a much larger active user base.

I'll be honest, I don't even really see why we have a music submission place. If you're not willing to put time and effort into crafting releases rather than songs, I'm not likely to download your music anyway. I'm much more likely to take a chance on a release by an artist I don't know than to listen to one song each by four or five different artists.

I download single tracks all the time. There are lots of good artists on 8bc or here. If there were just more ways to view and participate with peoples mp3 uploads here, this site would come to life a little more. In short, I think there is a middle ground between the garishness of 8bc, and the solemn feel of CM.

I'm the exact opposite. But it has nothing to do with personal preference. A music upload section offers a great opportunity for developing artists to get feedback on their work. 8bc has been very helpful for me in that regard.

I prefer releases over single tracks myself, but man, the random bits you can catch here and there are phenomenal. That early version of Roboroach by Derris-Kharlan remains one of the best chip music tracks I've ever heard, and I'm not sure how interested I would have been in his release if I hadn't been exposed to that one early. PILOT LARS has a brief little track called "May 26, 1984" that has my interest piqued in anything else he ever works on again cause it's so good.

Is that by posts or brain activity?

I guess that most people who post here are too busy with real life crap (the average age here is probably a lot higher that 8bc!) and the music that they write is more likely to be saved for an EP.

I think this is the "problem" haahahaha
People here work.
People here save music for EPs/albums. Also, I'm one of those, If I would release something like a single, I wouldn't post in forums. I use it to release music I would not release in an actual album, which don't mean it's a bad song.

Seems reasonable, but there's plenty of crossover. People often post songs here and there...anyway I guess the way it is now works out okay. I go to 8bc to find new things (singles from a newish artist), and come here to see album releases.

Look at us talking about this and not actually visiting the music section.

tldr:

1. Lots of the musicians here save their work for EPs/Albums
2. Lots of musicians upload the same track to both sites, meaning it makes more sense to go to 8bc, as
3. There's more people (and therefore more musicians) at 8bc
4. herp
5. derp
