hey all,
so i was doing the underclock mod for the first time this weekend. i used this tutorial:
http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/361/h … ble-clock/

i got everything wired up, and powered the gameboy on.
normal speed. i toggled the switch, nothing...

then, probably by total accident, i touched 2 of the 3 contacts on the switch.
all of a sudden, it's running in 1/2 speed. WEIRD!

i did this test over and over, i rewired the circuit 3 times, and i tired using 3 switches
(2 of them were rockers and the other a mini-toggle).

anyone heard of this type of thing before?
it's like the circuit is working, but doesnt have the power to actually switch on it's own.
it needs my body's electricity.

for now, i just wired the 1/2 speed crystal in place, but id still like to get the switch
working. any suggestions are welcome.

thanx in advance.

ELECTRIC HUMMAAAN

What's probably going on is that you have either a bad switch or your wires aren't connected to your switch well. For some reason, the circuit isn't closing (excuse my wording if that's not right?) when you flip the switch. By touching the contacts, you are closing the circuit by using your body as a conductor. Check your soldering job on the switch contacts and if they seem fine, try a new switch.

Does it work when you start it in half speed mode?

i redid the soldering a few times. and i tried 3 different switches as well.

yes.
when the switch is "on" and i boot it, it's 1/2 speed.
but if i flip the switch when it's on/off it stays in 1/2 speed.
but if it touch the switch, on or off, it works.

i tired wiring the two sides together (which makes no sense) and it's always 1/2 speed.
but those are the two points i touch to make it work.

btw, the underclock sounds soooo goooood
