Anyone tried that sun tracker thing ?

from the screen grabs and feature list looks pretty good

SunVox is amazing m8. I've used it for all my stuff (except one time when I used klystracker to recreate the tetris theme from scratch).

I haven't tried it on an iPhone, but I know it's exactly the same as on the pc, so what you get in the pc version is what you get on the iphone version.
It's got compressors, frequency modulators, filters (with an lfo), generators with a large number of waveforms (tri, saw, pulse, noise, dirty, sine, hsine, asine, psine), movable patterns (so you can stack patterns on top of each other, meaning you have an unlimited number of channels to work with), midi support, samplers you can edit to a ridiculous degree, and a list of other stuff.

Oh, and you can change any of the values in the modules during the song. So if I want the saw generator to suddenly start playing a tri waveform, all I have to do is enter the commands into the tracker to do so. You can also have any number of generators and other modules smile

It's got all the features of a standard tracker and more. I think you guys would love this.

You can get the most recent version for free here wink http://www.warmplace.ru/

Here's an example of a track made with one generator and one channel (I made it on the pc, but the iphone can make the exact same thing)

hehe, genius smile

I love the concept of a one generator, one channel song.   Like in BUzz I used to start with a bassdrum, then put it through ninja delay, a sequenced digital filter, whole chains of extra delays, sequenced eq's, filters, and then just jam with the outputs and make a whole song form that one kick drum.

When I can work out how to get some itunes credit (apple bastads don't like my cc for some reason) I'll get it.

My live setup uses an iPad to sequence MIDI. I use an app called Genome that I'm really quite taken with. You can brief see it on my video thingy here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoW1zmww8yo and thier website is : www.whitenoiseaudio.com ... I use a line 6 midi mobilizer to get midi out.

Well, I bought sunvox tracker for ipad and after a few hours of messing around it seems to have everything you need to make chipmusic sounding music, and a lot more besides.

It's weird though, something about it doesn't quite feel right.

Starting up milkytracker my brain muscles just go "ahh yeah"

Nice sounds though, anyway, and nice to have it so portable.  Cheap too.

Quick question, anyone found a way to import xm's into sunvox format ?

Cheers,

om

I used KORG iElectribe and KORG iMS-20 for this EP:
http://decktonic.bandcamp.com/album/legend-of-zeldub

both are excellent apps and provide a lot of value for $10 or less.

I also use my iPad when I DJ with the TouchOSC app (interfacing with Traktor Pro on my Macbook).

I have played with some other music apps but these are the only ones I've actually recorded with.

I've been searching for a while to find a good midi app, such that I can use the iPad as my midi brain to send the midi info to hardware. Yamaha sequencer is great for composition, not so much live performance since it's not possible to assign a different midi channel out  to a track. Is it possible to assign specific midi channel outputs from specific tracks with genome?

Anyone else know of a good midi app? Ideally I want to load an smf file, route it to my device, and hit play.

It's a good time to bump this thread, I think! A lot has changed since 2011 in iOS music.

Propellerhead's Figure is amazing. Really fun interface and you can sync between other devices running it. V cool.

Korg Gadget is an iPad only app that just looks awesome IMO. It's an environment that gives you multiple miniature synths and drum machines and lets you creatively combine them to make music. If I had an iPad this app would be a MUST have.

Bias' JAMUP is one of the best guitar rigs I've ever used. I saw danimal rock it a lot live and instantly bought a copy for myself. I have a full pedalboard guitar rig with Ableton live, but next time I need to travel a long distance for a show I will definitely use JAMUP for my guitar processing. Fuck checking in a pedalboard at the airport, haha

VIVIDTRACKER is a full-on MOD tracker for iOS. You can't beat this. I don't know if I'd ever use it for creating MODs, but this is a great tool for loading in MODs and studying how they're made. Very fun and respected app.

LOOPY is a super cool live looper. You can even sync it to other devices within iOS. If this had functionality for hardware such as a footswitch and MIDI sync, this would be the single most important device in music for me right now yikes

Sunrizer and iSequence are excellent. I do all my midi creation on iSequence. Sunrizer sounds like a professional hard synth. Even iSequences built in sounds and drum samples are decent enough to use in a final product.

I'll check out isequence a bit-it might work for my intentions... Can you assign your tracks to specific midi outs?  I get the feeling the kind of app im talking about doesn't exist...yet. Sort of like a sound canvas but in software form. Maybe cubasis might work, 50.00 is a lot to spend tho just to check. Anyone use that?

For ios app sound creation, i think square synth is one of the best-Great job break phase! Yeah propellerhead's figure is soooper fun. I use Dm1 quite a bit for making beats, it works really well as controller to send midi info to my roland mc505 or qy70.
