Ah c'mon dude, I offered him a deal before I knew you were talking to him privately. Wasn't trying to burn you, I backed off until you gave him the go ahead.

Very awesome, thanks
Cant believe I couldn't make it up to portland **sigh** I sure as hell will make the next one, and hopefully even get a chance to plaqy at one.
so here are my SIDs ... am I correct in thinking I can use the 2 from 1983 together for sid2sid? That would be great since on machine is broken
OK cool... so the sids have to match, noted.. I will use that link once I open the dead c64
I will probably supply the extra breadbin case to kitsch or something after I paint it up purdy...
aside from the SID, is there anything else of importance I should salvage out of it? also, remember how I said the cleaner c64 has less pins for the monitor connection? Is it possible to swap the connector from dead one? Cause I only have the one cabel and I would love to test it. (hope that makes sense without pics)
sooo much shit to sort through
I already have mssiah on the way, and I dont want to invest even more just to write a few diskettes. SO, if anyone is willing to help me, I can send you some fresh discs and pay a couple bucks for shipping.
im looking to try a few good trackers out. Any recommendations there are welcome too.

I got a few of those notation apps. like I said, total C64 noob here. also whats the best controll over music I can get? Coming from LSDJ, is mssiah a let down?
To get these to play on your machine you will need to build or buy a cable like the xe1541 (or similar... ) to write c64 diskettes. Then you can read/write them using your pc. There are other solutions using an amiga, like the Easy1541 (using his own cable too).
check this: http://sta.c64.org/xcables.html
to buy http://www.nkcelectronics.com/commodore.html
amiga Easy1541: http://aminet.net/search?query=easy1541
btw... mssiah is great if piece of software if you are familiarized with modern sequencers and synths... and remember that its not a classic tracker!
Thanks a ton, that answers everything. I will probably do mssiah then, leave the tracking to gameboy. My roots are in sequencing and from what i seen it kicks ass.
BUT, if anyone can write me a good tracker, I can send you some blank diskettes and pay for shipping back (dont want to buy the extra stuff, and im a mac user if that matters)
one (or 3) last question.. is a SID2SID a must do mod? I have a dead, 3rd, c64. Can I use the SID out of it for a Sid2Sid? and is there a cheaper way to do it than ordering this board http://www.8bitventures.com/sid2sid/ .... shipping says about $11 (yikes)
neuroflip wrote:Thretris wrote:also, I have no idea where to get started with music. any information on where to begin would rock. (google is no help since Im not familiar with the terminology really)
here you have a great repository of musical software for c64, vic20 and amiga: http://morganleahrecords.com/mooglecharm/commodore.html
My problem is how to get these to play on my machine?? I got over 500 diskettes from the guy today along with my HUGE bundle. I got a few of those notation apps.
like I said, total C64 noob here.
also whats the best controll over music I can get? Coming from LSDJ, is mssiah a let down?
(thanks for the pin answer akira)
I picked up 3 C64's today. Only have one monitor cable though... wanted to test all 3 machines, but one of them has a different pin-out than the other 2. how many different pin styles are there? I really want to test the one I can hook up (its the cleanest one too)
any help would rock
also, I have no idea where to get started with music. any information on where to begin would rock. (google is no help since Im not familiar with the terminology really)

not yet, but I fully plan on it (the one I have blue backlit)
pixls wrote:do you have any tips for preparing the gameboy to be painted?
i know mine's kind of dirty and i don't know what it's been through in its lifetime. also the labels on the back, i assume you take those off, if you have this somewhere a link would suffice, but i've been seriously wanting to paint my gameboy and just have been hesitant to do so in its current condition.
I wash them with hot water, soap and a toothbrush... for really bad ones, some spray on chemical cleaners work great (scrubbing bubbles etc.)
then I let them dry
then I use adhesive promoter
then I paint
akira^8GB wrote:yo yo yo, i inquired about this a long ago, lay off the mssiah
how was I suppose to know lol... so its not available then?
