Cheers, I'm using the BGB emulator, tried a couple of others and they were even worse sad

Maybe a soundcard issue, I'll have a play around and try and figure it out

Hi guys,

I'm guessing this is something simple so please excuse the noob question...

I'm trying out Nanoloop on Windows as I'm considering buying the Gameboy cart, however, when I make the most simple sounds such as the two found at the Soundcloud links below, there is this unwanted low bass tone that goes along with it, no matter what octave I choose.

Is this normal or is it an issue with my version or something? I'm using Nanoloop16d.gb on Windows 8.

Any advice would be very appreciated smile

I would venture that if this dude did a remaster of the lsdj stock samples and offered the kits for free as a promo for his commercial sample pack, it would be cool with everyone.

yeah, but then the question is what other stuff has he sampled from for his for money sample pack?

Any samples I have put out for sale have been all my own work. I recently pulled a circuit bent Speak & Spell pack as I was unsure of the clearance of some of the non-bent original letters and phrases, that was an area of much debate, too.

But to me, and as has already been mentioned, if you've paid for the software, then surely you can use it as you please.

nordloef got it bang on what he said regarding the Roland samples. Guys who have put out packs of the drum sounds aren't giving Roland any royalties... However, if I could get in touch with Johan, I'd be happy to discuss a profit share, if this made it legit.

I don't agree with Alpine's opinion that it is damaging to the scene, I'm not targetting chiptune producers with my planned sample pack. But how would that be damaging anyway? I give away plenty of freebies and am not some commercial whore of a sample house.

It's for the guys who want some genuine chip sounds who don't get deep into chiptune using LSDJ, Nanoloop etc. It's easy access to niche sounds that I'm hoping producers will enjoy and get some good use out of. I'm sure they aren't going to be your rivals and sell out the chiptune scene!

Thanks for your replies all the same guys, I guess I'll have to just compile my own kits and resample them for my drum hits, not a bother smile

Thanks for that mature response. I am surprised to find trollish behaviour on a forum I thought would be welcoming and supportive.

This is a terrible idea and you shouldn't do it.

Why is this such a terrible idea? People have been sampling instruments for years and packs in most genres prove very popular.

You're wanting to sample some samples?

Well, yes, but clearly I want to record them because of their distinct sound in LSDJ

Yes HillyOTM, you got it. I've tried emailing the info address on http://www.littlesounddj.com but haven't heard back as yet.

I'm aware I could create my own custom kits, which I will do too, but it would be cool to use some of the sounds that are there already.

Always an area of much debate, the sampling of existing sounds!

As mentioned though, I could sample a 909 and that'd be cool, so I don't see too much difference. But I want my packs to be legit smile

Hi guys,

I'm in the process of putting together a few packs of chiptune samples for commercial release and hoped some of you may be able to help me with a query.

Obviously, with riffs and sounds I create, I can freely distribute them so no problem there. However, I wondered if it is cool to sample individual drum hits from the included kits in LSDJ, in the way many sound library producers have sampled the Roland 808, 909 etc?

Any advice would be really appreciated

Hi everyone,

I'm Stuart, a UK-based sound designer with an interest in all things Chiptune smile

I'm a newbie to LSDJ so hoping to find some good tips and tricks here, as well as staying up to date on all things Chiptune in general.

Glad to be a part of the community. See you around!
