I want to make an adapter from 6 pin mini-din (PS/2) - female, to the Game Boy color connector - male, so that I can plug in keyboards to my GBC without ruining a keyboard, or installing a PS/2 port in my GBC which is tricky because there isn't a lot of space in there for one.

I have been looking around for some powered Game Boy link cables. According to this tutorial Nonfinite Electronics used to carry powered link cables.

I searched on eBay, and have found some sellers with "6 pin Game Boy link cables" and decided to order one for fun to see if it even includes all the wires. It's coming from China and will take a few weeks to get here.

Anyone know of any place I can buy actual powered cables? Or if it's possible to buy just the connector? I can't seem to find just that anywhere. I'm looking to buy at least a few of them in the future.

Yeah, I've been looking back on this thread and really like the stuff you've made!

Hey guys, I've got a Yamaha DX7s that I don't really have a use for, and I'd like to get rid of it. It looks in great condition, I believe all knobs and buttons work. The only problem is that the internal battery has run out, throwing up a message on startup. This is an issue if you ever need to unplug it or it looses power somehow. I also have the Programmable cartridge with the stock sounds on it.

It's for sale for $250, or trade for something of similar value. I am interested in a Kaoss Pad 3, MIDI controllers, MIDI Keyboards (preferably 61 key), or anything cool you have to offer!

This thing is gigantic and heavy so I'm not really sure the best way to ship it, since shipping could be expensive. But I'm sure we could figure something out. Unless you live in MN so we could meet.

Hello everyone! I started modding my first CBG and have been searching around and learning lots. However There seems to be very little information (that I could find) on adding switches to it, such as placement and types of switches that would work. After stumbling upon these rocker switches in the customized gear thread I thought it would look really sharp in a CBG. Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot of room because it's very deep and I really wanted it near the top. So I was wondering if you could remove the IR lights and the section of the board they occupy, but I don't know if there are any traces under the surface that are used for other stuff. Picture with the area in question outlined in a red rectangle. Side note, can the IR sensors be removed without the gameboy having issues?

Alternatively, I have seen one or two nice slide switch mods Like the green and purple ones here. But they don't give any information on how it was done. I prefer not to glue, since I like how the panel mount style looks better, but I would do it if necessary. Also, the snap-in panel mount slide switches I could find were all huge.

Then there are these panel mount swtiches but would require unsightly screws to attach it to the gameboy. I don't know if I would like it as much, but probably easier to mount than gluing one to the inside.

Any thoughts or ideas, or am I making this too complicated?

It's possible that maybe you shorted something out? Who knows, if you still can't figure it out, I would post close-up images of the board.

Wow, that's great, congrats! It may be for only a moment, but any amount of time is good time big_smile

I take it that it works usng with a cable like this one?

That sounds cool though. Much better than lugging around a laptop when you can have a phone flashing your savs; it also doubles as a handheld emulator in a pinch! Man I miss having an android phone.

Yep, that looks like the sort of cable you would need. I use one of these types of cables so that I can supply power to my phone and the device:

This seems like an appropriate place to mention this ems 64m app that just showed up: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … emsflasher

Wow, that looks pretty interesting! I'll have to re-enable OTG on my phone to try this out.

Thanks waveboy! This will be great for learning different sounds.
