Hey, count me in! I have an album in the works and wanna keep most of my tracks from this year for that, but I recently arranged a cover medley that very well sums up my output this year. Are medleys/covers allowed?

I'm having problems with this, too. I made the switch to Windows 10 last night and have been regretting it because of this stupid problem. When I first got Windows 8 it gave me similar problems then magically started recognizing the USB cart. I've tried disabling the driver signature enforcement through the settings->reboot process that DropMontage mentioned - the same way I did it in Windows 8 - but it didn't make any difference. Gonna check out that Android app.

Hoping this is an okay place to put this:

Does anyone know if USK has ever leaked any lsdsngs to the interwebz? I'm a huge fan of his work and it would be a chiptune holy grail if I could get my paws on one of them. If he hasn't, is there anyone here who knows him personally and may be able to ask him to share some of his stuff?

(I hope this is the appropriate place to put this.)

Played a show last night in Orlando opening for TreyFrey with Boy Without Batteries. It made me pine for a chip scene here in Northern Miami-Dade/Broward county. Anyone here from south Florida? Anyone wanna get together to plan a show or something?

Okay, so I suppose that this is the best place to put this. I really like your idea and it sounds better than the old Q-tip trick. I have a DMG that loses the left headphone jack output when turned up all the way. I get stereo sound if I turn it down a bit, but once it gets near max volume, I only get sound in my right headphone. There is no crackling or anything so I don't think it's dirty. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks much :3

Hello, all! I'm writing some tracks inspired by a novel by Garth Nix called Sabriel. I want it to be a four-on-the-floor album with a relatively dark feel, possibly in the form of a DJ mix—i.e. an album where each track melts into the next. Here's the first track composed for the album: http://chipmusic.org/sonus+silver/music/dads-dead

Any and all constructive criticism is most appreciated. Let me know what you think! I shall post a few more tracks for criticism on this thread over the next few weeks. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback, Xuriik! If you mean what I think you mean when you say that the kick lasts too long, then I guess I can see what you're saying. I try not to make my kicks too short and jabby, though. I like a full deep bass kick.

As for making samples, I've done that myself with a few other games (Zelda, Kirby) and even with My Little Pony (see this: https://soundcloud.com/sonusilver/eques … w-groove). I shall defs check out your samples and may even make some of my own. Perhaps I can do a project where I just sample the entire pokédex and post it online, if that hasn't been done already tongue

Probably one of the most bullshit extrapolated fantasies about a game I've ever read. I was laughing, and then I ended up feeling sorry for this person by the end of it.

That's kinda mean, sir. The person analyzing the game does a magnificent job of it. You'd do well to learn from it, not to laugh at it.

I've heard various times that LSDJ is slightly out of tune. You can fix the pulse channels within the program via the finetune function, and you can tune KIT instruments using the pitch function, but I haven't the slightest about regular WAV channel instruments. Perhaps its being out of tune when used with a Game Boy has something to do with the Game Boy's clock? But idk about the program itself.

But as far as whats songs I use; I submit a lot of the unmastered singles, here and on soundcloud, and I figure out which ones get the most plays, positive feedback, ect. and then I will normally use those, as well as 3-8 others that I have not previously released.

That's actually not a bad idea and I was considering it. Thanks for the affirmation :3

If you make the whole album one long mix you can find the best transition points between songs and divide the tracks at those points.

That's kind of also what I wanted to hear. Thanks for the tip.

Dire Hit wrote:

Since you're recording channel by channel just make it like a dance mix. Put parts that sound good together and fade between them, or build to a more sudden transition.

I have tried recording channel by channel before and had such trouble trying to get them lined up perfectly in Audacity that I just gave up and recorded all channels simultaneously. I've been recording whole songs as they play on the Game Boy and have had no trouble with it at all.

Hey, all! I'm fairly new here on cm.o, but I've been making chiptunes for a few years. For some time, I've wanted to release something akin to x|k's Baud of Passion, i.e. an album in two versions, one of which has the songs as they are composed and one of which has the songs linked together like a dance mix. (Not that I'm trying to compare myself to x|k's greatness; I just like the idea). I have a few songs lined up and would like to make a few more, but I wanted to know if anyone here has any advice on a decent/the best way to go about recording it something like that. And while we're at it, I also wanted to know how everyone decides what goes on an album. What's your method of determining what goes on your releases and what remains a single or gets lost in the mountains of submitted-to-the-internet tracks?

Been singing since I was in kindergarten. Took piano at various points since I was five, but never got into it. Picked up bass when I was thirteen and have loved it since. I didn't start composing until I started making chiptunes and have learned very much by messing up, researching, practicing, and listening to LOTS of music and compositions.

@Imaginary: I was gonna ask the same thing.

I have another question. If we send you a track, are we allowed to use it on another album? And I don't mean another compilation, but an album of our own. Or is that taboo?
