This ZX Spectrum 48K music collection was made in memory of Ján Deák, who sadly passed away in November 2014 at the age of 46.

Ján was an author of ZX Spectrum games, music and music routines, and one of the founders of the group Bytepack. Most people will probably know him as the author of the ZX-7 beeper music editor. With the engine used in said editor, Ján held the record for most channels (8) in a 1-bit routine for over two decades.

Shortly before his death, he returned to the Spectrum scene to bring us the 16 channel ZX-16 BEEPER routine, thus reclaiming his throne as best beeper routine coder of all times.

Rest in peace, Mr. Deák, you will be missed dearly.

Haha, a good idea for a thread. smile

Well, I don't have my first songs because we had no diskdrive, and after composing we had to save the file on tape-recorder. Those tapes are already lost in time.

The only thing I have, is a "song" (haha) made in 1989, for my pseudo-demo "True Music 1". It was made on ZX Spectrum 48K, for BEEPER only (1 channel, 1-bit quality, no volumes, square wave only) about 2 years before I bought an AY-interface.

http://yerzmyey.i-demo.pl/yerz-true_music1_1989.mp3

The curiosity is, it has been fully written in BASIC language (one note is one command smile ), and here is a part of a veeeeeeeery long listing, hahaha.

It took me hours to make this ultra-short crap, looped at the end. =8-D

I recently recovered it from my ancient cassettes with my ZX Spectrum programs. smile
The later songs had 2 channels and have been made on "The Music Box" editor. wink

Just a curiosity but maybe some people could be interested.
For some time now we make some attempts with Lord Vader, to force full synchronisation of TurboSound (2 x AY) and GeneralSound (4 channel digi music in 8-bit quality).

General Sound's bus is only the Nemo-bus anyway, so we by default try to make it for spectrums with int rate of 48.8 Hz (Pentagon, ZX Eva and so on).

This is not any real song, it's only the first short result of the work -
http://yerzmyey.i-demo.pl/ts_gs_test.mp3

We have now a full synchro for Spectrum trackers' speed "6". On Amiga it would be tempo command "F7A".

Considering that two AYs give 6 channels, with General Sound it give us 10 channels in total.

Will it be useful? It's hard to say yet, but there is such a possibility.

Anyway, it would be rather for chiptune/lo-fi musicians because there would be no point to use it in demos/games, as all ZX machines have different level of AY/GS mixing (sadly).

You know guys, it's kinda border between italo and spacesynth genres. smile

MegaLoler, Sandneil: many thanks. smile

Jeff: Ah, I see. Well, OK then - if it's not too much of a trouble - I would be interested. PM will be send. wink
