Yamaha FB01 (identical? to megadrive in a sound module, 8 way multitimbral 4 op FM synthesis. Absolutely mind blowing with LGPT/ piggy to midi. However, voices cannot be edited from the front panel, you must use a computer editor (atari st is the best, but you can get them for all OSes) Check some of Alex Mauers' presets on yootube.

okay replan: can anyone with the relevant transfer methods make a tape version for me? ive been messing tapwav and some other c64 conversion softwares trying to make a wav file from the .taps and other images availible on that site, but to no avail. il happily pay for the time involved + tape+ postage!
in other news, the game is awesome via emulation. sure its not as joyful as playing on a real system with that sidalicious soundtrack though.

wedanced, there is a key combo that will change the white noise from the thin one you mention to thew metallic esque sound of the 1.x seriues noise in the second mode. there is also a third noise mode if i remeber correctly. i havent used 2.x for a long time so im not suree of the keys you need to press or if there is really a third noise mode. but look into it man! could just be select
