Wow, I feel a little weird reading that about PR people. I will not bring friends to a show if I didn't think they'd like it. I'll take a beer, but don't expect me to bring my posse.

If you read what I posted with a bit more detail, you will realize what I meant is to recruit a bunch of people that are frequent show attenders and offer them rewards, as possibilities allow, progressively. How do you know your friends won't like the show? Why not try? That's pretty low confidence.
Doesn't seem like PR people down here work the same way as you, because you seem to be doing press work also, which is not something a PR does here (that's what the press agent is for). Besides getting press exposure, what else it is your task? PR people here are in charge of inviting people to the show. That simple. And that was what I suggested, I think the best people who can invite and express the apreciation for a show are those who already love the show.

OK a good read on Wikipedia notes the sociological difference here:

Wikipedia wrote:

Public relations (PR) is the practice of managing the communication between an organization and its publics.[1] Public relations gains an organization or individual exposure to their audiences using topics of public interest and news items that provide a third-party endorsement[2]

That's what we call here a "Press Agent", not a PR.
What would you call what I described? A host?

I say we need a logo, whether or not it's used on the actual website

I guess people still can't realize that what they see above is a valid logotype, and that it's FINE.

Btw, I had a look at SDI and the source code for the player is indeed available!
No C64 assembler wiz in here?

You need to play a track done in SDI? Guess that should be no problem. Try asking on IRC, #c-64 (ircnet or efnet) - or perhaps on CSDB (http://www.csdb.dk). Even Geir himself is there (#c-64 ircnet) sometimes.

Nope, we are looking to implement MIDI clock sync in it.

HAha yeah the panning is getting to my nerves, is so hard to work with, specially with headphones D:

Modsarchive has "staff features" where the staff picks a track every now and then and features it. The track forever remains with a "medal" marking it as picked by staff. I really liked this idea big_smile

I could try to convince someone to hack at it, maybe.

A bunch of tips from the Kiken Corporation book for proper event production:

- Printing shit is a waste of your money, people throw away flyers or don't pay attention to posters.

- Social networks are good, Facebook being the currently fashionable one, it proved to work very well for us.

- Online sites that are guides for electronic music are always something you want to have your event mentioned in

- If you have a contact in good printed press for your town, move it so you get focused (this worked well for us too)

- Decent drink prices, a good sound system and cheap (or free) entry tickets (as long as it is realistic) are good things that will keep the party appeal for people who will want to go again and also newcomers. Make it fun too, try to make a proper and aptly flowed lineup.

- Get a bunch of PR people working for it. There's people that will always go to your shows. Spot them, pay attention to them, and offer them to get in for free and get a couple of free beers next time if they agree to bring some people over. Extend this network of PRs to your heart's contents. Best parties are those where people bring their friends to party, and in place their bring their friends, etc.

I had an Apple IIGS and the moment I turned it on I blew up the power supply. I threw it away D:
I still kind of want one.

Me too (no heart tongue)

I hate each and every one of those words my friend xD
That's why I guess I avoid all mention of chipmusic when I talk to a neophyte, unless they show deeper interest.

I heard about all this recently in a security conventiion and  I thought it was both scary and super cool.
Thanks for the reference links! I'm interested in this one time pad thing though. Any more info?

Nice spot there mate, yeh i dunno i get intermittent problems with the sound going T T T t t t t t ... then will be back again, i was always told it was to do with latency

That's a latency issue. Use manual settings for ASIO and get the total on 15 or something, you will get rid of those more than probably. Also put your netbook on top CPU speed mode. I still get glitches from time to time but I can use even a total of 25ms latency, which is pretty damn small.

the card was designed for traktor so i takes the effects on board to do the work there

No, the card is not a DSP, the effects of Traktor are carried away by the computer's CPU. If you add a lot the CPU load will get higher.
The card is just an AD/DA.

I found Traktor Pro and Scratch are better than Traktor 3 with it, seems to be more optimized.

What does a screen like that cost Ary?

NTSC models are cheap and very easy to mod. Louis is the champ in PSOne screen modding (he tipped me on how to mod mine for low consumption when he saw mine attached to my A1200 in my first Pulsewave gig).
Ary's model doesn't seem to be modded for that though. You can still use it but it eats up 7.5VDC (modded you can reduce that to as low as 4 volts)

Yes I was thinking of including this and ModP3.

I'll edit later big_smile
