Old brown breadbox type with black-ish keys C64: always 6581

White "modern" style  C64C: depends, you have to look underneath, there's a ventilation grill at the front of the machine, if you see the motherboard through it, it's an old type motherboard, which means it has a 6581. If you don' see the motherboard, it has an 8580. The newer motherboard has  smaller footprint and this is why you can't see it through the grill.

Old brown style but with cream keys C64G (you probably won't find this in Canada): has 8580

Don't get me wrong, I think fakebit is a shitty word too, but a lot of the stuff I hear with VSTs fails to utilize those waveforms in an interesting way, and a big part of that is that they fail to utilize techniques inherent to the original medium, usually because they lack the necessary background to understand them.

That sounds to me like I could replace "VSTs" with "Game Boy", and the cause is not the tool used but who is behind it.

Can anybody post the stems somewhere else? I refuse to log in to their site to get them.

I really love how the stream of videos, pictures and livesets has come out this time really fast after the event. Great work to everyone involved and specially the organizers, as usual.
I don't think I have heard most of the Tokyo sets if any at all (except mine tongue) of last year! sad (online, that is. I was there, fortunately smile)

ITT: we reply to each other!!!!!

Why are people still calling any tune they hear that contains a simple waveform "chip music"?
I'm really curious, how after so many years, so many misconceptions and disagreement still occur between those who are involved into what I call the "new wave" of chipmusic. This topic can go on forever. Nobody seems to agree to reach any point of consensus.

Meanwhile I still think: read Chipflip.

Wish I could go, now that I am nearby...

You rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These are looking HOT.

A generic effect chain forme is:
EQ (always first) -> Bit crusher -> Delay -> Filter
If I need the compressor,it would go right after the EQ.

I would never put delays and reverb before a filter, it can lead to a shit ton of crappy noises that are irritating.

IS this right?I don't know, then again, I have zero music production theory education tongue

GO MEME GO

I just peed my pants.

I am playing and even though I have music made with the Amiga I did not bring one. I don't take the kit out to tour anymore.
