Modulars look cool and all, but effort and money are required.

It hurts so much that I can't be there.

Fair enough. You don't want to record the output of the SEGA?

Yes. It just depends on what you want to do with the audio

Correction: The manual will probably be a download rather than a physical piece of paper.

It will appear as a MIDI output device in Live or whatever.

You can route MIDI data to it.

You will need to connect the audio output of the SEGA to your sound card to hear the audio output.

Yes, it will come with a manual.

But I will also be making some intro videos (i.e. basic setup, getting started, channel routing)

Basically, the sooner you order one, the sooner you will secure one from this batch. I haven't set a maximum number yet.

If you order one or more, there will be one or more available for you smile

PAL or NTSC
does it matter?

Both! The interface itself is not regionalised, but can switch between PAL and NTSC mode whenever, using a MIDI CC value.

Made an FAQ page: http://little-scale.com/genmdm_faq.html

Ah, thanks for confirming, firebrandboy smile

Hey man, let's not shit on the SN76489 because I reckon it sounds great smile

BUT, Tinctu, have you seem this: http://little-scale.blogspot.com.au/201 … -1099.html

If you like, I am happy to release source code / schematics and also perhaps get a few PCBs made or something? I've been meaning to do so anyways, and I think it could be fun...

6 channels for chords sounds phat as.

FAQ updated.

Questions - will we ever see PCM, DAC or PWM support? What about usage with the 32X in the future and its 4 extra PCM channels? Does the cart play nice with the MegaCD (with 8 PCM channels) Cart Boot mode? Some of those extra channels would add tons of new textures and obviously expand on the MD sound.

I've updated the FAQ in the OP.

---------------
10) Does the GenMDM support DAC on channel 6 of the YM2612?

Yes, but only in a somewhat limited capacity - a series of percussion / drum samples come pre-loaded on the GenMDM.

---------------
12) Will the GenMDM support SEGA 32X sound control in the future?

Most likely not - not in the near future, at least, and not with the current SEGA-side firmware.

---------------
13) Will the GenMDM support SEGA CD / SEGA MEGA CD sound control in the future?

Most likely not - not in the near future, at least, and not with the current SEGA-side firmware.
