Also, you might wanna give a little more information? Like, what kind of style was the song (happy, sad, techno, bluesy/jazzy), what sounds where used (SID or Ricoh, etc.). That might help to track it down.

Yeah ok, I was right then big_smile.

In this tutorial I'm gonna show you how you can make a very punchy kick using the triangle wave.

I'm using the Magical8Plug VST for this demonstration, but this technique should work with any other triangle wave generator.

So, let's get started

Step 1:

Select your triangle wave


Step 2:


Set your release as short as possible

Step 3:



Set up a negativ sweep.

Step 4:


Sweep time very short.



And there you have it! A very punchy kick using the triangle wave. Experiment a little with the parameters and you'll get some very cool sounding kicks out of the triangle smile.
