You're just a fat bearded cunt with an attitude problem and I would take great pleasure in carving your face off with a dull knife. That, is overreaction. See the difference?

For posterity.

I laughed so hard at this.

Somewhat-related to the topic at hand, I found myself on the opposite end of this situation recently.
I wanted to use tracks from Ben Briggs and Ectogemia's K.K. & Friends album for a video of glitches I'd found in Animal Crossing: New Leaf so that nobody would have to listen to me and my brother yelling at each other the whole time. The album was released under a CC NonCommercial-ShareAlike license, so I knew it was probably fine to use, but I sent them a couple messages just as a heads up to make sure they'd be fine with it, but never got a response.
With mixed feelings about it I eventually went ahead and put the video up with the tracks in it, with a link to the album in the description.
Then everywhere I posted it (facebook, twitter, various message boards) there were plenty of people like "OMG THIS MUSIC IS SO GREAT THANKS FOR LINKING TO IT I BOUGHT A CD FOR ME AND ONE FOR EACH OF MY FRIENDS"
So then I didn't feel so bad about it since I've apparently gotten them quite a few more fans.

^thanks, d3th st4r! That means a lot coming from you. :v
I wish I could do stuff as rad as the fallout boy you did.

couldn't initially identify what you were doing with the d-pad and lines.  I guess the color looked a little off, but still cool.

Yeah, those and the blue stripe on the back are a little off, it's as close as I could get.
The paint was actually a real pain to do because I had to use three different types of krylon paint to get the all the colors right (or close to) and I'm a little skeptical of how the purple and the yellow are gonna hold up.
Definitely not gonna do this many colors in one design again for a while.
My next two DMGs are using ASM shells and I'm focusing more on the actual system modding than just aesthetic stuff anyway.

If you haven't played any of them before, I'd suggest playing them on anything but the 3DS first.
It had so many framerate issues that caused everything to go out of sync it made the latter half of CORE pretty much unplayable and RUNNER not far behind that. The rest of the games had minor issues, but they were still playable. I'd just hate for someone to try the series for the first time on the 3DS and be turned off by all the issues it had and never want to try it on a different platform.
IMO The Wii versions are the best, since the games were originally made for the Wii.
The Steam versions of CORE, VOID, RUNNER, and FATE are all great as long as you use a controller (though keyboard controls aren't that bad), but BEAT sucks on the PC since the original used motion controls (tilting the Wiimote to move up and down), and using the mouse instead just doesn't work as well.

The dpad is red and IIRC I got it from ASM a while back.
And yeah, I suppose I should clarify for anyone who isn't familiar with them, the look is inspired by the BIT.TRIP series of rhythm games.

I'd rather buy an energy drink dev kit.

It is real, though. They're still sold in a few places around here, along with Megaman E-tanks and Sonic the Hedgehog energy drinks.
I wanna say I've seen donkey kong and pac man ones as well but I'm not sure if that was from the same company or not.

EDIT: yep, here they are.

In lieu of creating a whole new thread, I'll just ask here:

What songs should go on an introductory chiptune mix-tape? I'm compiling a mix for a friend of mine to try to get him into chipmusic.

It's a bit late to be replying to this, but when I sent Rhett & Link their DMG, I also included a copy of LSDJ, Nick Maynard's How to Chiptune zine, and a mix CD of LSDJ tracks I thought were a good example of things you can do with the program, since I thought maybe at some point in their spare time they might get a kick out of messing around with it.
This is what was on the CD.

thanks~
Goodnight, kfaraday. Sleep well.

I like to think that I'm better with modding than with composing.
My most recent/popular endeavor wasn't even that complicated or anything, but a ton of people seemed to like it.
I made a Rhett & Link themed DMG and sent it to them. They posted a picture of it on their facebook page and showed it in an episode of The Mythical Show.

I like to consider myself a pioneer of sound. I've started a whole new genre of chip. I call it "suckwave".
It's kind of like jazz, but really crappy.

I am definitely a troll though.

Favorite anime? Toradora.
Second favorite is either Nichijou or Arakawa Under the Bridge.
