i completely support this rule and applaud the mods for taking a strong stance on it!

iif you could use it to set the tempo for another gameboy running LSDJ/nanoloop, via link cable, it would be a neat tool for live performances!

this idea would be very very easy to make with just an arduino. i'm sure there's tap temp code on arduino.cc and it would be easy to copy the tempo code out of the arduinoboy.

I would have expected the artist to provide you with download codes.  Thats what i would have done.
Or just download the album themselves a get it to you through dropbox or something.

yeah, same here. also, chances are slim that these bands didn't have extra download codes they could have given out.

Downstate, somewhat ironically, the questions that the original poster is asking are very well documented on the net and don't need to be asked on a chip forum!

when i made mine, i tried to follow color guides but that didn't work at all. at one point, i ended up just trying random combinations until they worked. can you harm anything by doing that?

well it goes until midnight so you'll still be able to see a lot of bands!

if you just want to play back songs, famitracker is better. a lot of the really "chip" sounds, like arps and pwm, are very difficult to do in midi software.
