set the global groove to 3/3

is the gbc modded? I noticed some modders take power off the link port for the backlight which causes problems when you actually want to use it for stuff

I would go for the slightly larger pelican (1200?) as the gameboy barely fits in that!

I think to some people it is! We could always do more to be more welcoming.

Sometimes chipmusic isn't enough of a unifier!

If you go to the corner pub, and its full of straight white dudes and you arent a straight white dude, would you risk drinking there? Even if everyone is acting NICE now, it may not seem like a good place to take a chance otherwise.

Its hard to fathom, but gatekeeping can happen through passive inaction as well as actively being mean. Having a monolith that is like THIS IS THE SCENE AND IF YOU ARENT LIKE US YOU CANT BE WITH US can turn people away despite the good intentions of members of a community.

thats a big reason too! The social networks have defo drank the milkshakes of enthusiast forums.

The most ive learned recently about old style modding and things I do today is proactively announcing inclusion rules and such up front. Cmo was created as a reaction to 8bc so I think many of the founders assumed that people would feel more welcomed here, but in hindsight didn't do enough to advertise the philosophy of that in the onboarding and moderation aspects, so people are assuming ill intent. Its ironic that people instead went to chipwin, which turned out to be way worse IMO, but hopefully new attempts at community can learn and build from this.

A relaunch of CMO with these guidelines might be useful to convey this, but perhaps the ship has already sailed on the brand.

Here is the CoC we drafted over for the M8 discord, I would love to see a similar initiative over here:
