Excellent!  smile

Thanks, guys.  This isn't saying much but that was definitely the best set I've played thus far.  Thanks for sticking around!

Cool, I'll look into it. My other option was the Gemini MM1:

.. but that iRig mixer looks better!

That is nice. If it matters, I can run the irig from a cheap usb battery at full volume for nearly 3 and a half hours.

I'm a bit like that. I get bored when using the same setup over and over again. Your pic reminded me though, I need a mini mixer like that. I have a small mixer but it doesn't have a crossfader. I was thinking something passive like the Pokket Mixer, but I've heard that passive mixers can be a bit strange. Then again I do like strange.

I was all hot and ready to get the Pokket Mixer until people that own them talked me out of it. But that irig is a masterpiece! I truly love it.

First thing is to check the batteries in something else.

Then make sure your dmg still powers on with the usb adapter.

If both of those answers are yes then it's possible something got damaged. I've never heard of a power switching circuit going bad but it could happen. My guess is one of the battery contacts is either loose from the board or bent so that it doesn't touch the battery terminal.

Don't use balanced cables.  The game boy outputs unbalanced audio.  Using balanced cables and mixers inputs will cause phase problems.

Yeah, it's still emulated.  Even using a pro-sounded sgb wouldn't work, because the rom is dumped to the retron, and runs from there.

Has this been tested with a prosound SGB?

I won't work because the only time the cart hardware is accessed is when the rom is dumped to the retron's memory.  After that everything happens from the retron's software.  The carts act as dongles, essentially.

Here's a hot one from Nonfinite: https://datathrash.bandcamp.com/album/leo-drop

You don't need a SGB with the Retron 5.  You can stick your flash cart right in the regular Game Boy slot on the front of the unit.  I can confirm that D'n'D carts work perfectly and that EMS 64 carts work with page 1 only and with only 1 ROM on the page (so LSDJ only, like usual).

What about sound quality?

Sound is excellent and the retron has bass/treble adjustments if you so desire.  The only caveat is that it ONLY has hdmi connectivity.  All in all I'm super glad I got it and have been playing translations of cool Super Famicom games and NES homebrew like a madman.
